Celebration of the Rainbow Crossings in Brock Township
On Tuesday July 9, 2019, Council,
PFlag Durham Region,
Durham Regional
Police Services and members of the public officially unveiled the rainbow
crosswalks for the Township of Brock.
Mayor Bath-Hadden welcomed those in attendance and challenged the
neighbouring North Durham municipalities to follow Brock's example.
Jake Farr, President of PFlag Durham Region and Dylan Robichaud,
Executive Assistant to MP Jamie Schmale expressed appreciation to Council for undertaking this initiative and for showing support for the LGBTQ community in Brock.
There are three rainbow crossing locations within the Township:
1)
Beaverton
- on the front steps to the Beaverton Town Hall on Simcoe Street.
2)
Cannington
- on the west side of Albert Street crossing Park Street (the existing school crossing location).
3)
Sunderland
- on the north side of Park Street crossing Church Street (near the arena/park).

The Council of the Township of Brock has received a request from Beaverton Commons Inc. to purchase two parcels of vacant property owned by the Township of Brock with the intention of developing the lands as an extension of the existing commercial uses immediately to the south.
The subject property is located west of Highway 12, north of Beaver Avenue, in the Township of Brock. The subject lands are legally described as Concession 5, Part Lot 11, now RP40R3821; Township of Brock, Regional Municipality of Durham and Concession 5, Part Lot 11, now RP40R3821, Part 4, Township of Brock, Regional Municipality of Durham. The subject land is illustrated on the
key map.
The Sale of Land By-law requires that Council host a public meeting prior to the consideration of a subsequent meeting to formally enact a by-law to declare the lands surplus to the needs of the municipality.

The Council of the Township of Brock has received a request from an abutting property owner to consider enactment of a by-law to formally stop up and close an opened and unopened road allowance located west of Bay Street with the intention of selling same to the abutting property owner.
The subject property is located west of an un-opened road allowance, which is known as Bay Street. The subject land is legally described as the Bay Street Extension and Portions of vacant land, Bay Street, Beaverton known as Part of the Bay Street Extension and Portions of vacant land, Bay Street, East of York Street, Plan 39, Part north ½ Lot 14, Concession 5, Brock, as in BN3631, Except Part 1, 40R3978, Except Part 1, 40R3725, Brock. The subject land is illustrated on the
key map.
