Weekly Update
November 4, 2020
From the Principal
Dear BBHS Families,

Thank you to the Parent Association for hosting the "Calm Parenting in Times of Crisis" webinar with clinical psychologist Dr. Laura Kastner on Wednesday, November 18 at 7 p.m. I would love to see every parent participate. To learn more about the event and to register, please read the information below.

Additionally, this is an important time in our country and world. As a school, we have created opportunities for faculty, staff and students to discuss and process the results of the election and reactions to it. Teachers are available to facilitate conversations in their classrooms, which we hope are rooted in our Catholic faith which teaches us, as echoed in the recent letter from Archbishop Etienne, to be inclusive, respectful and to value all perspectives.

On Monday, I read a message that resonated with me from the founder of Code.org, Hadi Partovi. He said, “students will all benefit from a reminder about what makes America so special: our shared belief in equality, liberty, justice, and democracy.” He went on to say, "there may be no group more dedicated to the American ideal of equality of opportunity than educators." This value is present at Bishop Blanchet on a daily basis, as I witness the dedication of teachers, coaches and club moderators. I am especially grateful to be surrounded by educators who care so deeply about their students, and my wish is that every student attending Bishop Blanchet achieves their greatest potential.

Sincerely,

Sam Procopio

THE SHOW MUST GO ON!
Join us Saturday, November 14 at 7 p.m for our annual celebration of the performing arts, Spotlight Cabaret!

Though we cannot gather this year in person, our fabulous students will dazzle you with high-energy, high-caliber performances that you and your entire household will enjoy via livestream. In addition to the amazing student performances, we will also announce our spring musical!

This year more than ever, our students need your support. The arts provide an essential platform for students to find mutual support and a safe place to express themselves. Your generosity ensures we can continue to serve our student performers in these challenging times. The livestream link to Spotlight Cabaret will be emailed to Patrons, and shared via the BBHS website and social media platforms. Please show your support and become a Performing Arts Patron today!

CALM PARENTING IN TIMES OF CRISIS - NOVEMBER 18
The current spiraling global health crisis has the power to wreak havoc on our mental health, strain our family relationships and completely undermine our “normal” parenting strategies. But it doesn’t have to be that way. In times when something outside of our control happens, it’s what we do as parents with what we can control that really shapes our children into cool, kind kids with character.

Please join us as the BBHS Parent Association hosts clinical psychologist and best-selling author Dr. Laura Kastner on November 18 at 7 p.m. Register here for "Calm Parenting in Times of Crisis" webinar, which will focus on the factors and habits that will make our family bonds stronger.

We will have time for a Q&A with Dr. Kastner after her presentation. If you have a question you would like answered, please complete this form. Keep Calm and Parent On!
