From the Prayer Team…

For when two or three are gathered in my name,
I am there among them. (Matthew 18:20)
Sunday, September 1, 2019, after the 9:00 am service
On the first Sunday of every month the members of the prayer team hold a short prayer service in the church. The September service will be held on September 1st following the 9 am service.

Starting in October, the prayer service will be held on the first Sunday of every month following the second service (focusing on the prayer requests left in the basket in the entrance to the church and other concerns of the parish, community, and world.) Then throughout each month, they will continue collecting prayers at the end of the second service and lifting them up during the week. All are welcome to participate in these monthly services.
For those who are not able to come to church or have an immediate prayer need, we invite you to call Sister BJ Brown at 302.420.7117 or email her at: sisterbjbrown@gmail.com

Solar Panel Project
Starting on August 20, Clean Energy USA began installing solar panels on the southern, eastern and western facing sections of the Parish House Roof. Clean Energy USA is a subsidiary of Schell Brothers (a large construction company headquartered in Sussex County). They have been in the solar panel business since 2007 and have installed over 1700 systems on both commercial and residential buildings.
Saint James was able to qualify for a special program offered to non-profit organizations. In this program, Clean Energy USA scales a system to provide > 100% of our electrical requirements. St. James uses ~ 60,000 kWh per year. This demand can be met by a 50,000 Watts system. Clean Energy USA pays for the cost, installation and on-going maintenance of the solar panel system. They then setup a 20 year lease where the initial rate is half of the annual cost for electricity use by the Church and Parish House. In year one, the electrical payments are estimated to be ~ $6700 and the lease payments are ~ $3350. This saves St. James $3350.

The lease payments will increase 2% per year. Historical electricity rate increases have averaged 3.9% per year so the amount of annual savings will increase. In 20 years we should see $115,700 in savings or average annual savings of $5785. After one year there will be additional financial benefits. We will transition from a Medium General Service Level site to a Small General Service Level site. This will allow us to lose demand charges and lower our customer charges.
The system should be on-line by August 23. Please feel free to contact me (302-332-0680) if you have any questions related to this project.

Annual Bazaar
Mark your calendars for this year’s Bazaar and Turkey Dinner! This has been a highly popular annual two-day event in the community for over 60 years. This year’s Bazaar is scheduled for Friday, November 1, and Saturday, November 2.
  Turkey Dinner News!
November 2 is our Annual Turkey Dinner Fund Raiser! Turkey Dinner 2019 begins a new era of the annual fundraiser and we are asking for your help. This year, Jennifer Idell, Allison Jessup, Sam White, and Susan Winward will be continuing the tradition by leading the charge with organization and management. In addition to baking all of the pies on Friday, they will be making sure the roles Fr. Jim played are fulfilled and gather donations, as well as getting other volunteers lined up to handle the many jobs that go into making this one of our biggest events -- one that is a fun family tradition for many. They are seeking volunteers to establish a leadership role for the 2020 dinner so that this tradition can continue. They are hopeful that a few good hands for the future will ensure this time-honored fundraiser continues for all to enjoy for years to come.
