HRI Pilgrimage to Montgomery is Underway!

Our pilgrims are setting off today, Friday October 11 , for Montgomery, Alabama to dig deep into the work of racial reconciliation, to learn about our shared history, and learn how to heal from it. Please keep them in your prayers this week, and keep an eye out for updates "from the road"!
All Saints Sunday: A Call for Names

On Sunday, November 3, we celebrate the Feast of All Saints and the Commemoration of All Faithful Departed, and we ask that you share the names of your loved ones who have died since the last All Saints Sunday. Borne out of ancient practice, the keeping of lists of those who have died is an excellent witness to the Communion of Saints.

If you would like to add a name to the list of the deceased, to be read on All Saints Sunday, please email [email protected] or call the front office at 643-3589  by Tuesday, October 29.
Community Giving Campaign
"St. Paul's: Your Community"
Starts This Sunday

At this time of year we ask you to share your thoughts about your involvement at St. Paul's by talking to another member of the parish. Someone will contact you. We need to know your thoughts to inform our clergy and vestry. Because you love this community, we ask you to commit your financial support to St. Paul's mission and ministries.

This is a short four-week campaign. Ingathering Sunday is November 17. We would appreciate your pledge as soon as possible. Thank you for your love for this community.

For more information about this campaign, what it means to pledge, or to make a pledge, email [email protected] or pledge online here .

Faith Formation
Contact: Keli Cooper
What is Faith Formation?

Sunday morning faith formation classes enable churchgoers to ask questions  and dig deeper into their faith.  We take these opportunities to consider Scripture from a variety of angles and discuss a range of topics relating to the church and God's impact in our world.  Faith formation is held from 9:00 to 9:50 a.m. each Sunday and is open to all.

W e have two different options each Sunday. Forum is located in the Norwood Room (on the first floor of the parish house). This is a space where we ask questions and dig deeper into our faith. There are a variety of series (like those listed below) throughout the year.

We also offer weekly (Sunday morning) meditation in the Palmore Room,  on the second floor of the Parish House

We hope that you will join us for one of these opportunities on Sunday mornings!

Please note: we will NOT have forum on Oct. 13, Nov. 24, and Dec. 29th, but we hope that you will join us for meditation each of those Sundays.
Fall Faith Formation Forum
(9:00 a.m. on Sundays)
More details about these and more faith formation offerings are on our website under the "Parish Life" tab.

"Sharing (Y)our Story"October 20th, 27th, November 3rd, 10th, and 17th.  (Coordinated along with Sarah Nolan, Minister for Stewardship).

The Sharing (Y)our Story faith formation series is designed to provide a space for members of our community to share their faith story in a safe and authentic space. We hope that people will attend these sessions in order to get to know others better and feel a richer connection to our parish family, "St. Paul's, Your Community!" This five-week series is held in conjunction with the Community Giving Campaign.

Our presenters for this series are as follows:

October 20th: Maritza Pechin
October 27th: Mary Kay Huss
November 3rd: Matt Stehle
November 10th: The Rev. Dr. Charlie Dupree
November 17th: Dr. Kia Bentley
Meditation/Contemplative Prayer
(Sunday Mornings, 9:00 a.m.)

On  Sunday mornings , we offer meditation at  9:00 a.m. until 9:50 a.m.  in the  Palmore Room  (on the second floor of the parish house).  Meditation is an ancient spiritual practice where we let go --we quiet our minds to rest in God's presence. Sunday morning meditation is open to everyone; you do not need to have experience meditating to join us. Led by a facilitator and an assistant, each gathering includes a short reading, a guided chant, and silent group meditation. There is an optional opportunity to share your experience or thoughts.  Please join for as many or as few sessions as you would like.

St. Paul's Prayers
Contact: Carter Johann
We pray for public, non-profit, and religious social service work and ministries in Metropolitan Richmond: For all in need of mental health services, all mental health workers, counselors, and treatment facilities.

For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me. (Matthew 25:35-36 NRSV)

We pray for all the Baptized in their daily work, especially those of our congregation and community who are in the transportation industries including: flight, ship and train crews, baggage and freight handlers, dock workers, engineers, bus and cab drivers and maintenance and sales personnel.

We pray for those who are ill: for Dan Benn, partner of Gail James; Bruce Kissal, brother of Maria Everett; Yvonne Harris; Bev Sale; Mary Garner Mitchell, and Roger Robillard. We also pray for those who are no longer with us: Dean Taylor. May his soul be at peace.

Almighty God, we entrust all who are dear to us to your never-failing care and love, for this life and the life to come, knowing that you are doing for them better things than we can desire or pray for; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

If you would like to add a name to the prayer list, please contact Administrative and Membership Associate, Carter Johann, at  [email protected] or  (804) 643-3589 ext. 5501.
