JPS A3 2021 SUMMER CAMP
Jackson Public Schools will host a unique learning experience this summer. The JPS A3 Summer Camp will offer academic and enrichment activities to scholars in grades K-12. The camp is free and open to all JPS students registered for the 2021–2022 school year.

Summer Camp will operate on weekdays throughout the month of June at multiple school sites across the city. Half-day schedules are 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and full-day schedules extend to 5:30 p.m. Meals, snacks and transportation will be provided.

APAC PROGRAMS ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS
As promised, there's another opportunity to apply for the Elementary and Middle School Academic and Performing Arts. The application window will reopen Monday, April 12. You will be able to access the link to our online application on our Special Programs Enrollment page.
 
Middle School APAC accepts scholars rising to grades 6–8. As a reminder, the program will be housed at Northwest Jackson Middle during the 2021-2022 school year. Applications must be submitted by Friday, April 16.
 
Elementary APAC at Wells accepts rising 4th and 5th grade scholars. Download the Wells APAC Application Process Flyer for details. Applications must be submitted by Friday, April 23.
Pre-K Parent Academy
PRE-K PARENT ACADEMY
The final Pre-K Parent Academy takes place from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, April 15. This program provides a tremendous opportunity to parents of children ages 3-5 who live in the Greater Metro Jackson area.

Parents who participate learn what it takes to get their scholars ready for kindergarten and how to identify milestones in their development. Plus, you'll receive supplies to practice school readiness skills at home.

DURING-SCHOOL ASSISTANCE
& SUMMER CAMP
Genesis and Light Center's During-School Assistance Program offers individualized assistance with homework to scholars in grades K-9. Registration is ongoing. Call (601) 362-6736 for details.
Students in grades K-9 can participate in the Genesis & Light Center's Summer Camp to be held June 1-July 30. The program is $16 per day with scholarships available.

The Class of 2021 will return to the Mississippi Coliseum for in-person commencement ceremonies. Jackson Public Schools is making adjustments for the safety of participants while creating a memorable occasion for graduates.

JMAA Donates Tuskegee Airmen Books to Johnson Elementary

Jackson Municipal Airport Authority culminated their reading program with Johnson Elementary third graders by delivering to each student copies of the book, "Who Were the Tuskegee Airmen?"

Obama Magnet Students Compete in State Spelling Bee

Obama Magnet fifth graders Alyson Henson and Kaleigh Gates recently competed in the Mississippi State Spelling Bee. Alyson was Obama Magnet’s school champion and Kaleigh was the school runner-up.

Michael D. Johnson Scholarship Accepting Applications

The Michael D. Johnson Memorial Foundation is accepting applications for its annual scholarship program for senior athletes. Eligible scholars can secure up to $1,500 a year through this program.

2021 JPS JROTC Cadet of Year

JROTC Cadet Jasmine Taylor is the 2021 JPS Cadet of the Year. Promoted to Cadet Colonel, Taylor will serve as the JPS JROTC Brigade Commander for School Year 2021-2022.

Lanier Wins 2021 Boys Basketball State Championship

The Bulldogs defeated Raymond High 64-48 to claim their 17th state title for boys basketball. The Bulldogs finished the season with an astonishing 18-4, including a 16-week winning streak.
