Dear 4th/5th Grade Parents,
The Great Valley Basketball League (GVBL) sponsors tournament teams for boys and girls starting in 4th grade. The GVBL Tournament Team Program was established to provide a more competitive and stronger level of basketball than our rec program. The commitment to practice is greater and the development of the players is accelerated. The primary objective for the tournament team will be to train and develop the players on a higher level, providing an opportunity for them to excel in a more competitive, yet fun environment.
The 4th and 5th grade tryout schedule for the 2019 - 2020 season is highlighted below:
4th Grade GIRLS
Saturday, September 14th 1:00p-2:15p & Sunday, September 22nd 4:00p-5:15p
4th Grade BOYS
Sunday, September 15th 1:00p-2:15p & Saturday, September 21st 4:00p-5:15p
5th Grade GIRLS
Saturday, September 14th 2:30p-3:45p & Sunday, September 22nd 2:30p-3:45p
5th Grade BOYS
Sunday, September 15th 2:30p-3:45p & Saturday, September 21st 2:30p-3:45p
There is no charge to participate in these
tryouts and we encourage players to attend BOTH sessions.
In order to be eligible for the GVBL tournament team program, players must live in or attend the Great Valley School District. Players are not allowed to 'play up' a grade level. Tournament team players are required to practice and play in our recreational league. Tournament team players are expected to play outside of the traditional basketball season (November - March). Most teams will practice and participate in fall and spring leagues and/or tournaments, along with a winter league. Participation requires a strong commitment from players and parents. Along with this, our tournament team program allows kids to continue playing other sports. We do not ask kids to pick basketball as their only sport.

We ask that you take the time to research and learn more about our tournament teams. This is a unique and great program that players and families love being a part of. Unfortunately, each year there are some that sign up too late for the current year to participate.
