Update from NACE President Rich Sanders

May feels just like yesterday... Seems like we were just in the Wisconsin Dells for our NACE Annual Conference.

To say we've been busy since the conference would be to put it mildly.  As you may know, the Executive Committee hired a new Executive Director, Kevan Stone. To read more about Kevan, click here. Committee Chairs have been appointed and the committee makeup has been set.  You can go to the NACE Website to see who has volunteered on each committee.  Also, don't forget to follow us on Twitter, which you can do by clicking here.

83rd Annual NACo Conference Update

During July 13-16, 2018, county officials converged on Nashville/Davidson County, TN, for the 83rd Annual NACo Conference and Exposition. NACE had several members along with our new Executive Director Kevan Stone represent our organization during the conference events.

Beyer Appointed NACo Transportation Steering Committee Vice-Chair

The National Association of County Engineers has long been one of the National Association of Counties largest and strongest affiliates.  With an increased role, which has included numerous policy resolutions NACE members have sponsored, NACE's contributions to NACo's policy process has been crucial to the nation's 3,069 counties.

At NACo's Annual Conference, held earlier this month in Davidson County (Nashville), Tennessee, NACE's stature within NACo's committee structure got that much stronger.  Richie Beyer, Elmore County, Alabama County Engineer and Operations Manager, was appointed a full transportation committee vice-chair.  This marks the first time in recent memory that a NACE member has served in this pivotal role in guiding county government transportation policy.

NACo's Annual Conference Yields New 2nd Vice-President, Transportation Policy Committee Chairman

Earlier this month, the nation's county leaders converged upon Davidson County (Nashville), Tennessee for its annual conference.  During this meeting of over 3,000 county leaders, which include many NACE members, elections and appointments were made affecting the nation's county road professionals.

During the conference, elections are held for NACo's Annual Officers and appointments for NACo's policy steering committees are announced for the upcoming 12 months.  This year's election resulted in a ripple effect that touched NACE members, with new leadership of NACo's Transportation Committee being a result of a close 2nd Vice-President election.
