We believe that no kid should be left on the sidelines and all should be given the opportunity to experience the positive benefits of organized sports. KidSport™ provides support to children in order to remove financial barriers that prevent them from playing organized sport.

KidSport Kamloops is a local chapter of KidSport Canada.  Funds raised locally are spent locally and are distributed as grants to cover registration and/or equipment fees associated with participation in a season of sport.

Even if it feels like the world has come to a standstill, that doesn't mean you should.

We've always believed in the power of movement and a healthy lifestyle. Now that many of us find ourselves isolated at home, cut off from each other and more sedentary than usual, movement has become more important than ever.

Who are you?

The Kamloops Youth Soccer Association (KYSA) is a non-profit youth soccer organization offering recreational and competitive programs for U3 to U18 players. We are dedicated to providing our community with a fun, inclusive, and safe soccer experience.

Can you tell us about your organization?

KYSA offers programs throughout the year, with our primary season taking place April to June. The programs we offer include:

  • Initiation Program (April to June) - U3 to U7
  • Community Spring League (late March to June) - U8 to U18
  • Select Program (mid-February to June/July) - U11 to U18
  • Academy Training and Summer Camps (year-round) - U3 to U18

Our Indoor programming for winter gets underway in the Warner Rentals Soccer Dome on November 2nd. This year we are running two phases of training:
Nov 2 - Dec 11
and
Jan 4 - Feb 12.

REGISTRATION OPENS NOVEMBER 3RD for our Community Spring League! We are moving ahead with registration under the assumption that we will be operating at current (Phase 2) or improved (Phase 3) Return to Play restrictions come the Spring. For more information or to register, visit www.kysa.net

How long has your organization been active and operating?

The KYSA has been operating since 1964

Where do your athletes meet and train?

During the spring and summer our members play on city and school fields in their communities. Our BMO Select teams train and play most of their games at McArthur Island. We are fortunate to have amazing grass fields to play on thanks to the City of Kamloops Parks Department. In the fall and winter, our programs take place in the Warner Rentals Soccer Dome. KYSA owns and operates the only indoor soccer facility in Kamloops.

Describe your members in one word.

Parents- Positive
Coaches- Dedicated
Players- Competitive

What has KYSA been working on lately?

We've been focused on Return to Play programs throughout the summer and fall. Our staff have done a fantastic job to keep our members engaged and active on the soccer field, while ensuring all safety protocols are adhered to.

Who are some volunteers that you would like to highlight in the community for their work and dedication?

We have more than 200 volunteer coaches and managers working with teams in the Select and Spring League programs. We truly appreciate the tremendous time and energy that all of our volunteers put into working with KYSA players.

What do you think makes Kamloops a great sporting community?

Kamloops is a great sporting community because it's just that - a community. Everyone (City staff, sponsors, volunteers, coaches, staff, parents, and players) is dedicated to creating a welcoming environment for sport to thrive. We are fortunate to live and play here and are so proud any time we have the chance to show Kamloops off to out-of-town teams.
