Helping Rural Communities Access Veterinary Care

One of the highlights of World Vets  veterinary field work is our community outreach clinics.  These engagements provide a rewarding opportunity for volunteers to interact with local members in the communities we serve as well as their animals.

This activity has been a staple of our International Veterinary Medicine (IVM) Programmuch to our student volunteers delight. While these mobile clinics provide an enriching volunteer experience, they also   have a  positive impact on rural communities by making quality care and veterinary services more accessible.

As part of community outreach, volunteers are involved in assisting with health consultations and administering vaccines and preventative health care to a variety of animal species. We also equip ourselves with basic medical supplies to address a range of medical conditions in the field.

Dr. Kendra Rushing
Volunteer Spotlight: Kendra Rushing, DVM

World Vets has over 4000 volunteers who work hard to make our programs a success.  Our volunteer spotlight gives a small glimpse into the lives and stories of some of our dedicated heroes! We are proud to have such compassionate and skilled volunteers as part of the World Vets team!

Dr Kendra began her journey with World Vets as a veterinary student. During which time she took part in our International Veterinary Medicine (IVM) Program. Since graduating she has been paying it forward by continuing her involvement in this program as a DVM instructor now mentoring students.

"World Vets trips make it really easy to appreciate the difference a single person can have in the life of pets and their owners. On teaching trips, I hope that I am contributing to a ripple effect through the students I work with. My life has been changed through the people I have worked with through World Vets and I hope to keep passing that on."
