Bowley Briefing

Every year, we award the Albert J. Bowley Scholarship to two deserving students from Historic Preservation, Museum Studies, and related fields. These students then work with us as interns for a year, completing all kinds of special assignments!"

This year’s Scholars are Chloe Martin and Katharine Bogen!
Katharine Bogen (right) is a Junior double majoring in Historic Preservation and Classics. According to Katharine, “What I’m most excited about during this internship is learning all sorts of new things about the museum world and the world of preservation in general!”

Chloe Martin (top) is a Senior who is double majoring in Historic Preservation and English. Chloe says, “I am most excited about getting to experience all aspects of working in a museum, including getting first-hand experience with the Monroe artifacts!”
Warmest Regards
We extend a warm THANK YOU to the UMW students who came out to the museum in September to participate in the annual COAR UMW Into the Streets event.

This event provides an opportunity for UMW students to volunteer in the Fredericksburg community.
These students wrote over 100 cards for military and first responders through Operation Gratitude.
Operation Gratitude is one of the largest and most impactful nonprofits in the country for hands-on volunteerism in support of the military, veterans, and first responders.
