Saturday, August 31 from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p.m. Kent Carnival! Come one, come all to the second annual Kent Carnival at the Golden Falcon Field! The carnival is for all ages - children, teens, and parents alike! There will be pony rides, touch-a-truck, a bouncy house, balloon animals, s'mores, shooting gallery, and more! Make sure you come visit the TAB carnival game booths and win some awesome prizes!

Welcome Samantha! 
 
The Kent Memorial Library is pleased to announce that Samantha Saliter has been
appointed its new Co-director of Children's Services. She will share the duties of
Co-director with Abigail Parker and begin immediately. Ms. Saliter grew up in
Cornwall, CT and has worked in many facets of the business world. After reading
"A Series of Unfortunate Events" her six-year-old daughter, Rowan, noticed that
since all the good characters in the series like to read books,
that her Mom should become a Librarian.

Ms. Saliter is eager to begin her work at the Library in Kent.
" I'm hoping to incorporate my love for art and literature into this position,"
she raves. " I'd like to instill excitement, fun and inspiration into the  
imaginations of every child who enters the Library."
 
Samantha has just begun to obtain a Library Clerk Certification through  
an online program. She has experience working with children and teens as an  
art mentor at the Art Garage: High School After School Program at  
Housatonic and a volunteer at the Cornwall Library.

2019 Car Raffle. The Kent Memorial Library has chosen a 2000 Porsche Boxster Roadster as this year's annual fund raising raffle car. This arena red with Savanna beige leather interior has very low mileage. Tickets are $20. Raffle tickets are being sold in the Library and during the annual Library Book Sale. The car will be parked in front of the Library. The winning ticket will be drawn on at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 27 at the conclusion of the 43rd Annual Kent Pumpkin Run. Information is available on the Library's website. Ticket holders need not be present to win.

Annual Book Sale. Every Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. & Sunday from 12:00 to 5:00 p.m. Our outdoor annual book sale carries a wide range of books, including many current best sellers, mysteries, biographies, art history, to name a few; the book sale caters to all interests. (the sale is weather permitting, if in doubt, call the Library.) All proceeds benefit the Kent Memorial Library.
 
Chess. Our chess boards and tables, inside and out are open to young and old, beginners to advanced. Team combinations are encouraged - for instance, grandparent and parent-child, co-workers, friends. All are welcome to use our chess equipment.
