Soil Testing and Interpreting Results Training for ICP Employees

NACD Announces Annual Meeting Theme, Debuts Logo
NACD is pleased to announce the theme for the 74th Annual Meeting, "
Conservation Innovation: Working from the Roots Up.
" The 2020 Annual Meeting will focus on innovation and how it helps deliver conservation on the ground. In cooperation with the National Conservation Planning Partnership (NCPP), the NACD meeting will feature public and private sector innovations in a wide range of fields that focus on meeting private lands conservation needs
.

NCF-NGLI Now Accepting Applications
NGLI, a program of the NCF, will train seven applicants over the course of 2020, with one participant selected from each of NACD's regions.
During the year-long NGLI program, currently-appointed conservation district officials will be equipped for leadership at the local, state and national level through several in-person trainings focused on personal, civic and organizational leadership development.
The in-depth program features:
- Exclusive content: Specific for conservation district leaders across the US
- Exceptional investment: A low tuition fee for a high value experience
- Diverse settings: Five different sessions to create broader development
- Engaging instruction: Teaching that strengthens and inspires
- Limited offering: A select number of seats for accepted applicants

It is with great pleasure that the National Conservation Planning Partnership (NCPP) announces the opening of the Hugh Hammond Bennett Award for Conservation Excellence. The Award will honor the legacy of Hugh Hammond Bennett by recognizing those who are dedicated to conservation planning and implementation. Your assistance is requested to help recognize an outstanding producer and conservation planner for this award. Those interested in making a nomination should notify their respective NCPP State partner leader. We encourage you to look at your current and past state conservation farmer/rancher award winners as a starting point for the application process. Nominations due by October 1.

Agriculture Photo Contest Winners Honored at State Fair
INDIANAPOLIS (Aug. 15, 2019) — Today, the Indiana State Department of Agriculture announced the winners of the 2019 Indiana Agriculture photo contest at the Indiana State Fair. Lt. Governor Suzanne Crouch and ISDA Director Bruce Kettler recognized the ten photographers, who will have their photos featured in the Lt. Governor's business offices throughout the year.

NRCS Announces Additional Funding to Plant Cover Crops on Flooded Cropland Acreage
Indianapolis, IN, August 22, 2019 – USDA’s Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) has received additional funding for a special Environmental Quality Incentive Program (EQIP) sign-up throughout Indiana for those farmers who could not plant their crops because of flooded or wet fields. This funding is available statewide. Excessive moisture and flooding in 2019 have prevented or delayed planting on many farms in Indiana. Many producers were unable to plant crops by a final planting date or have experienced significant delays in planting. This sign-up provides technical and financial assistance to help farmers plant cover crops, an alternative to letting fields go fallow and uncovered. The deadline to apply is August 30, 2019.

NRCS Announces $1.9 Million Investment in Collaborative Research
WASHINGTON, August 15, 2019 - The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) today announced $1.9 million in funding for 15 Soil Science Collaborative Research projects focused on soil science and soil survey research. The information gained from the collaborative research will advance NRCS’ ability to provide scientifically based soil and ecosystem information to help address important natural resources issues facing our nation.

INPS has two classes of grants available: Letha’s Youth Outdoors Fund, and INPS Biodiversity Grants (formerly known as Small Grants). For both programs they have created online forms to fill out and Word templates. The deadline for the 2019 Biodiversity Grants is October 1. Letha’s Fund applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
