Roycemore School Weekly Newsletter
From The Head of School
I am an Individual

By: Adrianne Finley Odell
“I’m able to be myself. I’m comfortable here, and I get to be-- me,” said Nina in Roycemore’s new video, I am an Individual . The video highlights our students and the ways they are able to be an individual at Roycemore. Providing an environment where young people can truly be themselves-- has long been part of our culture. You might wonder how that works when we also have community as one of our core values? Well, we strive to make Roycemore a community of individuals. A place where students can be themselves. Where students respect and celebrate the diversity of their classmates.

There is great power in being able to be an individual. Frankly, most of us spend our whole lives on a path of discovery-- to “find ourselves.” We learn who we are and what we are capable of by having opportunities to try new things in an accepting and safe environment. When we feel that we will be accepted regardless of our background, we step powerfully into ourselves, and we can, likewise, fully embrace and appreciate others...

Get To Know Roycemore!
We are lucky to have amazing staff and faculty here at Roycemore. As a way to help our families get to know who's who at Roycemore, we recently interviewed Stefanie Rivera , Upper School Division Head.
Stefanie Rivera
Upper School Division Head
The career paths might seem unrelated: actor and English teacher. But these two vocations have merged twice in Stefanie Rivera’s career as an educator. She graduated from Wesleyan University with a bachelor’s degree in Theatre and acted professionally for five years. She always had an interest in teaching and ultimately quit the casting calls and auditions to study English and speech and drama at graduate school at National Louis University. She graduated in 2002 with a Master of Arts in Teaching. After graduation, she taught at Sullivan High School in the Rogers Park neighborhood of Chicago. During her eight years teaching there, she taught English and drama and created their drama program. Then she got the call to interview at Roycemore...
