Christ the King School Newsletter - August 27, 2019

Dear Christ the King Families,
The school year has begun strongly and wonderfully as planned. So much to be grateful for and many blessings that are designed by our loving God. What defines us as a Catholic school is our sense and being of
community
that quite frankly is difficult to replicate elsewhere. I admire each member of our special community for your commitment, sacrifice, generosity, example, and great care to our children as a witness to our faith. In that vein, I look forward to seeing you all at Back to School Night this Thursday commencing at 6:30 p.m.
Change is a part of life and the quote, “nothing remains constant except change itself” holds significance as all of our lives are continually moving. Today, we bless and welcome two members of our community:
Mrs. Reyes Hernandez has decided to move forward from her teaching position here at Christ the King Catholic School. We thank Mrs. Hernandez for her commitment, years of service, and creative spirit to our school’s Spanish program. Today, we send Mrs. Hernandez and her family sincere blessings and the best of intentions.
Demi Marquez joins Christ the King Catholic School’s Faculty and Staff as our Fundraising and Volunteer Coordinator. Demi’s conscientious work ethic, strong accounting background, and kind/sincere heart are appreciated as she has settled in nicely in our front office. Demi and her husband Roy are to be commended for their impeccable work with our school’s auction finances over the past years.
Each week this school year during morning assembly and after Friday masses we are concentrating on the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit. The first gift of the Holy Spirit is wisdom. I leave you with two awesome quotes…one from Pope Francis; and one from Saint Bernard as, today, we celebrate his feast day in our church’s history:
“We have the Holy Spirit inside us, in our hearts; We can listen to it, or we can choose not to listen to it. If we listen, the Holy Spirit will teach us the ways of wisdom and will give us the wisdom to see through God’s eyes, to hear with God’s ears, to love with the heart of God, and to judge with God’s judgement. This is the wisdom of the Holy Spirit, it is there for each of us.” Pope Francis
“What we love we shall grow to resemble.”
Saint Bernard
Let us always place God first in our lives. As we grow in His light and love, may we
resemble
Him more each day.
Abundant blessings,
Joe Silveira

Please join us in praying for all the grandmother of Paige Ostrander (Gr. 2) who went to heaven, for our families and friends, for the special intentions of our school and parish staff, for the needs and cares of others, and for all those who are suffering from illness, loss, loneliness or other challenges. May God keep us all in His tender and loving care.
