SOBP November 2019 Newsletter
Folks,

W e are gearing up towards the next year’s meeting in New York (April 30 – May 2, 2020) and I hope you are as eager as I am to be part of this renewed opportunity to bring science forward. The theme of the 75th annual meeting will be “ Variability: The Good, the Bad, and the Interesting" . More than 120 symposia and 310 travel fellowship have been submitted. We anticipate that the scientific and educational committees’ members will have another exciting batch to review. The deadline for poster submission is approaching fast, and this year will fall on December 2, 2019, a few days before the ACNP Annual Meeting. So please give a final sprint and get your abstract ready!

If the perspective of the upcoming meeting makes you nostalgic of the 2019 meeting, you can still go ahead and watch the exceptional plenary talks at the SOBP YouTube channel or at the members’ only portion of the Society website. Our society continues strong and towards sustained growth and if you would like to serve in a committee, I encourage you to reach out and share your interest to any SOBP Executive Office staff. Remember, our Society is as vibrant as its members’ engagement! If you are not a member, it is time to consider joining SOBP.

As usual, please don’t hesitate to share ideas and suggestions to make the Newsletter an even better tool and in line with your goals.

Sincerely,
Jorge Almeida, MD PhD

Variability: The Good, the Bad, and the Interesting
The field of biological psychiatry is approaching a catalytic period for discovery. The purpose of the 2020 SOBP Annual meeting is to provide an interactive platform for learning and discovery. The meeting program will focus on alternative and transformative frameworks for understanding psychiatric illnesses, and present enhanced and newly emerging tools for measurement and manipulation. Within these frameworks and with these tools, techniques and experimental designs are illustrated that can enhance understanding of psychiatric illness and elucidate the biological pathways and markers of illness processes.
December 2nd is the Final Deadline for Oral/Poster Submissions

Registration for the meeting will open in early December.
