CIRA has two fellowship programs - Yale AIDS Prevention Training Program (Y-APT) and Research Education Institute for Diverse Scholars (REIDS) - seeking new applicants. Each program pairs fellows with a mentor from among the top HIV researchers at CIRA for a two-year period. Review of applications will begin after the new year.

Researchers Warn of Problems Using Mobile Technologies in Public Health Care

Many health care providers in remote locations around the world are actively using newer mobile technologies like text messaging and fingerprint identification to deliver important services and timely information to their patients. While the efforts are well-intended, two new studies led by the Yale School of Public Health find that such approaches need to be closely monitored to make sure they are meeting targeted goals. The two recently published studies identified multiple problems integrating mobile technologies into public health care.

Intersection of Interpersonal Violence and HIV

  Nearly half of people in the United States living with diagnosed HIV are aged 50 and older. Though new HIV diagnoses are declining among people aged 50 and older, around 1 in 6 HIV diagnoses in 2016 were in this group. CIRA's Research Snapshot series features one page summaries of completed, peer reviewed and published studies conducted by our affiliated scientists. The summaries describe the reason for the study, the key findings, and implications for practice and policy, presented in plain language. Each of the briefs also include a link to a published article in a peer reviewed journal that derives from the featured study.
