Hello Hawk Families!
We have reached the end of our 2nd month of school, and we are excited for the lessons learned and the new found silver linings. Some of our lessons involve keeping it simple, celebrating the small wins, and remembering to take it one day at a time because no two days are the same. And, a silver lining is that with this rotation, our class sizes are working well and students rotating in/out throughout the week keep such positivity in each classroom. I sincerely hope that you are finding some small wins at home and remembering to take it one day at a time. This year is all about patience, partnership, and grace. Thank you for entrusting your children to us and to partnering with us as we keep our progress moving forward.
Our Hawks 5K kicks off tomorrow, October 30th and runs until November 8th (pun intended đ). It is not too late to register, and I hope you enjoy the opportunity to participate as a family or with another family to help us promote healthy movement! Thank you to Mrs. Laura Carlson and Mrs. Tania Jones for all their work to keep this fun tradition alive!
Traditions are so important and while the pandemic is wreaking havoc with some of them, we are striving to find creative ways to continue with the important traditions for our school community. Our 2nd grade saints may not have been able to process into church, but they were able to parade around the bell tower and in McClunn Hall the past two daysâhaving two days of saints certainly kept us holy and happy! We had many of the apostles, some popes, and some archangels! Truly brings a smile!
Veterans Day is another tradition that we are happy to celebrate with our military familiesâit too has been tweaked for the pandemic, and will happen in two shifts! Because of the spacing and capacity restrictions in church, Fr. OâHare has graciously offered to celebrate two Masses, 8:45am and 10:15am, November 11th in order for us to recognize and honor our military both active duty and retired personnel. For our military families, please sign up for one of the Masses and know that you are welcome to attend with your children. We cannot have a school-wide celebration, but students who do not have a military connection will livestream one of the Masses in their classrooms.
The Thanksgiving survey was helpful with more than 250 responses. It appears many of our school families are undecided or planning to travel to visit with grandparents. St. Louis is requiring that families who travel or have family traveling to them during the holiday e-Learn the week after Thanksgiving in order to help reduce exposure or contact possibilities. Thank you for understanding and for helping us continue to be diligent in the safety, health and wellness of all our community members.
Because of everyoneâs hard work, diligence, and efforts to be successful back at school, Bishop Burbidge has granted a âBishopâs Day Offâ, November 30th. He is ever mindful of the importance of social, emotional, and physical well being particularly now. Please note the calendar changeâNovember 30th will be no school for Faculty and students.
I hope to see many of you at the Trunk-or-Treat tomorrow or the Drive-in Movie! Enjoy your long weekend!
God Bless,
Anne Dyke

Veterans Day Mass - November 11th
November 11th is Veterans Day, and St. Louis Catholic School will celebrate our military personnel, both active duty and retired, and our first responders! The pandemic will not prevent us from honoring our tradition and our military community. Due to restrictions on spacing and capacity, we will be offering two Masses for our military families that day (8:45am and 10:15am). Since seating is limited, unfortunately we can't have a school-wide Mass as past years. We ask that our military or first responder families choose one of the Masses to attend with your children.
