All GGUSD Schools Are Reopen for In-Person Instruction

All GGUSD schools have reopened for in-person instruction and students are thrilled to be back in classrooms learning alongside their peers. Since reopening, we have seen growing evidence that schools are safe and that classrooms are the best place for students to learn. Additionally, we recently announced that all GGUSD schools will return to 5 full days of in-person instruction in the 2021-2022 school year. A "normal" 5-day schedule is possible due to updated guidance from the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) which altered the physical distancing recommendation from 6 feet to 3 feet. With COVID-19 rates improving and Orange County officially in the Orange tier, we are excited to celebrate the Class of 2021 with in-person graduation ceremonies (details coming soon).

Three Schools Named California Distinguished Schools
Three GGUSD schools were recognized as 2021 California Distinguished Schools! Bell, Irvine, and McGarvin intermediate schools were among only 11 schools in Orange County and just over 100 across the state to receive the prestigious recognition for their exceptional student performance and /or work closing the achievement gap.
Three Peat: GGUSD Receives
2021 Best Communities for Music Education Award
For the third year in a row, GGUSD was recognized among the best in the nation for music education. Only 5 districts in Orange County and 19 across all of California received this prestigious national recognition! Congratulations to our outstanding Visual and Performing Arts teachers and students on this well-deserved honor.
GGUSD Food Service Worker Named Orange County
Classified Employee of the Year
Congratulations to Violette Elementary School Food Services Lead Rosie Tamayo who was named a county finalist for Orange County Department of Education's Classified Employee of the Year program. Rosie is well-deserving of this honor. She has a huge heart, knows all of her students and goes out of her way to make them feel special, gives 110% every day, and is known for her kindness and can-do attitude. Thank you Rosie for your service to GGUSD students and families.

Are You Filling Out The ParentSquare Health Screening Form?
One of our important health and safety protocols is the implementation of a daily Health Screening Form on ParentSquare. All parents are expected to submit the ParentSquare form each morning to confirm that their child(ren) do not come to school with symptoms of COVID-19 or recent exposure.

In order to use the daily Health Screening Form on ParentSquare, parents must first “activate” their ParentSquare account. Click here for a video on how to “activate” your ParentSquare account. Thank you for doing your part to keep our school communities safe.
GGUSD COVID-19 Dashboard
GGUSD is committed to providing accurate and transparent information regarding COVID-19 cases on our campuses, while also maintaining privacy and confidentiality for our students and staff. To that end, we launched a COVID-19 Dashboard which includes the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases among district students and staff on our campuses (in-person instruction only). A confirmed case indicates that a student or staff member who was participating in on-site activities has tested positive for an active COVID-19 infection. This data will be updated regularly as cases are confirmed. In the event of a positive case, school communities will be notified directly by their principals or school staff.
GGUSD is committed to keeping our community informed about the impact of the coronavirus public health crisis on our school system. All coronavirus related messages or updates from GGUSD to our families are posted here.
