PENNE BECKETT, PAM RICHART, LAN RICHART
Before Pam and Lan Richart became acquainted with a 14-year-old youth from Guatemala who was “undocumented,” they had never previously considered taking on the responsibility of guardianship. But when presented with the opportunity, they immediately knew it was right for them. In this service, Pam, Lan, and Diego Lucas Diego Diego will share the journeys that led toward their commitment to one another.

UPCOMING MEETINGS, CLASSES & EVENTS
|
|
Saturday, July 12 at 9:30 a.m.
This is not an easy time for parents. Having to balance everything (work, family, home- schooling, and the anxieties of our time) is difficult. This is a safe place to bring your concerns and discuss any issues with those who are also experiencing the challenges. This is also a good place to connect and build relationships. We look forward to being with you.

Begins in September 2020!
Join us to discuss one of Amazon’s Best Books of 2017 about change, secrets, and family. Laurie Frankel’s
This Is How It Always Is
is a novel about revelations, transformations, fairy tales, and family. And it’s about the ways this is how it always is: Change is always hard and miraculous and hard again, parenting is always a leap into the unknown with crossed fingers...

You can sign up here:

From Jerry Carden and Tim Temple:
Our friend, and long time UUCUC member Olive Clark, will be turning 100 on July 27th at her Clark Lindsey Village apartment. There will be information about a card shower for Olive in the eNews, and on the UUCUC Members Facebook page. Start thinking of memories you could share in a card for Olive. Olive's address is in the membership directory.
From Gail Tittle:
This is the 2nd anniversary of Matt Tittle’s death from GBM brain cancer. It is a time of reflection of the 18 months of his illness, the difficulty, as well as the privilege and love. I also reflect on the immeasurable support of this congregation, and I thank you, once again.

UUCUC Social Action Offering.
Each month a selected organization is chosen to receive offerings from our congregation. You may donate to the social action offering for the month in one of the following ways:
|
|
During the month of July, we will support the
Wesley Food Pantry. In the fall of 2006, the Eastern Illinois Foodbank informed church members of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Urbana that there was an urgent need for a food pantry in Champaign County that offered emergency food during evening hours. In response to this need, three church members started the Wesley Evening Food Pantry that November. The very first food distribution served one family of five. Almost 15 years later, Wesley Food Pantry provides food to an average of 1600 people every month with weekly distributions at the Wesley UMC and satellite locations at Parkland College and the University of Illinois Activities and Recreation Center (ARC).
