Message from Joe Mintz, Chapter President
Of Counsel: Blank Rome LLP

Summer Greetings!

First, I'd like to thank the sponsors, chairs, attendees and panelists for another successful Mid-Atlantic Regional   Symposium. We hit the ground running as keynote speaker, Lt. Col. Robert Darling, shared his thrilling experiences from the White House bunker on 9/11. We then heard from esteemed bankruptcy judges and practitioners on various, current topics affecting the turnaround industry. And of course, we had plenty of fun too! Special thank you to the Symposium Planning Committee, co-chaired by Rachel Jaffee Mauceri.

We had a busy summer of Chapter events. In June, NOW Chair Rachel Jaffee Mauceri and her committee brought us a culinary treat at Iron Chef Jose Garces' JG Domestic. VP Programming Ron Gellert and his team brought us two great events in July: a joint event with the EDPA Bankruptcy Conference at Morgans' Pier and a joint TMA-CFA/SFN event with legendary Philadelphia sports writer/commentator Ray Didinger. Earlier this month, NextGen Chair Matt Arden and his committee hosted a great summer networking event at DECO in Wilmington.

The coming months bring more opportunities for networking and involvement. Check out our fall lineup of programs starting with our 16th Annual Summer Charity Classic on September 5th, which raises funds for CBAP and CASA of Delaware County. Click here to register and please contact Neil Gupta to arrange for individual and corporate sponsorships. Please scroll down to read D.J. Krystoppa's article about our Chapter's continuing involvement and support of Compass Philadelphia and how you can participate.

In September I will travel to Cleveland for TMA's 31st Annual Conference. I enjoy seeing so many familiar faces from the Philadelphia/Wilmington Chapter on the Global Board and in attendance.  Remember that opportunities for members to participate exist on multiple levels. For example: committee membership, helping to plan a program or contributing to the newsletter or Journal of Corporate Renewal. I can be reached at [email protected] to get involved.

See you in September!
Joe

Message from D.J. Krystopa, Member of Board and Marketing Communications Committee
VP Business Development Officer: Seacoast Business Funding
The TMA Philadelphia/Wilmington Chapter is proud to partner with the Philadelphia Compass team which provides pro-bono strategy consulting services in the Greater Philadelphia nonprofit sector. Each year Compass receives hundreds of applications and only a select few are chosen. This year, five of the following TMA members were selected and made an immense impact to various nonprofit organizations: J.W. Clements - Clements Capital, LLC, Michael Goodman - SSG Capital Advisors, Kate Heitzenrater - Duane Morris LLP, the late Mat Rotenberg - Blank Rome LLP, Liz Tabas - Dechert LLP.

Through their combined efforts, they've made positive changes. Executive Director of Fred's Footsteps said, "We are eternally grateful for the opportunity to work with Compass. The team of volunteers worked with our staff and board to develop a plan that was completely customized to fit our culture and needs. They helped us to reflect on our past and create a road map that honored our legacy while also challenging us to evolve to meet our future needs. This opportunity would never have been possible for an organization of our size without the dedicated donors and volunteers who make the mission of Compass possible."

Information for the 2019/2020 Project Year such as deadlines and qualifications can be found by clicking the Project Leader Application or the Team Member Application. Prospective volunteers can meet the clients and project leaders at Compass' Project Launch on October 3, 2019. It is beneficial for our members to participate in Compass. All TMA Philadelphia/ Wilmington Chapter members are encouraged to apply. For more information, please contact Joe Mintz or  Neil Gupta.
