Merry Christmas & Happy Holidays!

From all of us at United Way of Northeast Louisiana, thank you for your generous support this year. We wish you and your family a safe, healthy, and happy holiday season!
Tornado event of December 10-11th

Our thoughts and prayers go out to our friends across Arkansas, Illinois, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, and Tennessee who were impacted by the devastating tornado event of December 10 and 11, 2021.

Kentucky's United Way network, United Way of Kentucky, is working with emergency management, disaster partners, and local communities to support services for affected families. At this time, monetary donations are needed to support immediate needs and long-term recovery for impacted communities.

100% of donated funds received by UWKY will go directly to recovery efforts. Please consider rounding up your gift to cover the cost of credit card processing fees when donating.

Thank you for joining us in standing united with Kentucky families in need. Now more than ever, please give generously! #LIVEUNITED
Campaign Spotlight: Ewing Timber

Our friends at Ewing Timber kicked off their workplace campaign on November 10th.

They had a buffet-style breakfast, provided by the employees themselves.

Along with their breakfast theme, they had a very fun quiz about past and present breakfast cereals. The winner won the “Golden Grahams” Award and a fun prize! There was also a drawing for anyone who turned in a United Way NELA pledge form that morning.

Ewing Timber employees, we're inspired by your workplace's excellent participation and your continued support of United Way of Northeast Louisiana. We expect great things from your campaign! Thank you for all that you do for our community.
Campaign Spotlight:
Guaranty Bank & Trust

As a new campaign, our friends at Guaranty Bank & Trust raised over $8,000 for our community!

Company leadership invited our United Way staff to speak at an employee training day, held at The Hub in Monroe, where all 75 employees from 4 parishes were gathered together.

The Campaign Coordinator, Meredith Miller, kicked off the meeting by sharing how much United Way NELA means to her and why she wants everyone to have the opportunity to hear about our work in the local communities.

Employees watched our campaign video and heard the United Way presentation.

Meredith gave a $100 bill away in a drawing at the beginning of the meeting and then gave another $100 bill away in a drawing from the pledge forms turned in at end of meeting.

Guaranty Bank friends, we're inspired by your campaign results and the level of commitment your team shows. You're making a difference in our community!
Young Leaders UNITED volunteers gathered on Thursday, December 9th for a Christmas Party Service Project assisting with United We Gift.

United We Gift is a project focused on giving back to those who invest so much in our community.

Young Leaders UNITED volunteers gathered at the United Way NELA Monroe office and wrote cards for our seniors, teachers, and support staff during their time together.

Faces of 211: Brenda Sittig

This month's Face of 211 is Brenda Sittig. Brenda serves as a United Way 211 Team Leader.

Brenda began working part-time with 211 on January 13, 2017. She worked a full-time day job then went home to take calls overnight for 211. She never expected that almost five years later, she would be in a Team Leader position.

Brenda says, "I am blessed beyond words to be able to work with an amazing management team and even more blessed to work with amazing call specialists."

Brenda loves to give and care for others. In 2017, her family faced a life crisis that involved losing their 3-day old son, Bryson due to extreme prematurity.

Her crisis prompted her to begin a job with 211 to cope with her own life issues and to try to make a difference. Brenda says, "I truly believe that is why God placed 211 in my life when he did. He knew that because of my own life circumstances, 211 is where I need to be."

Brenda has been in the non-profit world serving others since 2006. This includes her work assisting the mentally ill with temporary shelter to transitioning into their long-term housing. She has been involved with numerous community events related to feeding the homeless and giving back to her community.

In her spare time, Brenda loves to fill out forms (yes, she knows it's a weird thing), organize and declutter, as well as party plan and decorate for all types of events. However, family is at the top of her priority list. She loves to spend time with her best friend/husband, Bradley, and their large family. This includes her four children (ages 18, 15, 3, and 1 years old), her special needs brother and sister-in-law, her younger brother, her nephew, two dogs, and one cat. She jokes that her family doesn't have a fish... yet.
