With regard to weekly testing of staff for COVID-19, there are no positive cases to report. Staff that had been previously identified as either inconclusive or presumptive positive in recent weeks were all retested with negative results and have returned to work. In compliance with NYS Dept. of Health regulations, patio visitation is scheduled to resume Sept. 23. To schedule an upcoming visit, please call the Reception Desk, 518-370-4419.
Beginning next week, Ingersoll’s residents of the Catholic faith will be able to receive Holy Communion from Activities Director Christina Benardo. She has been authorized by The Rev. Bob Longobucco, Pastor of St. Kateri Tekakwitha Parish, to serve as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion (often referred to asa Eucharistic Minister). Christina will distribute communion at Ingersoll Place after she attends Tuesday Mass and receives the Eucharist herself.
It was announced yesterday by Christopher Healy, President of the Ingersoll Place Board of Trustees, that Adriana Colonno, Executive Director, will be resigning from her position at the end of September. Adriana joined Ingersoll’s staff in 2018 and was instrumental in the launch of PointClickCare, Ingersoll’s first electronic health record; also, the NYS Special Needs Voucher Demonstration Program to help fund the cost of memory care for residents with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementias. Adriana’s advocacy on behalf of individuals who might otherwise not have had the resources or the opportunity to call Ingersoll Place home will be remembered with gratitude. Together, the board, administration and staff extend their appreciation to Adriana for her many contributions and wish her good health, happiness and success in all future endeavors. “Plans for an executive search are underway,” said Mr. Healy, “and will include input from members of the board and management staff.”
“It’s been my privilege,” says Adriana, “to be of service to Ingersoll Place these past two years. I’ve met many wonderful people during my time here and have been inspired by the courage, faith and resilience of our residents. My last day will be Sept. 30 and I look forward to speaking with residents, families and staff in the coming weeks.”
We welcomed a new resident to the Upper East Unit earlier this week. Once the requisite week of quarantine has been completed, we look forward to giving him a tour of his new surroundings and introducing him to fellow residents with masks, hand-hygiene and social distancing rules in place.
