Bob and Penny’s northern road trip:
Penny Watt
Bob has always wanted to drive to Prince Rupert, so we combined a road trip with seeing some of our clients. 2 years ago, we made a similar trip but through northern AB and then on to northern BC and down to Vancouver.
It is good to connect and meet people we only deal with by email or phone most of the time. We enjoyed getting to know everyone a little better.
Along the way we discussed ongoing education needs: Group Benefits seminars in Calgary and Vancouver that will have benefit providers working together to provide a valuable education day focused on group. We already do this in Edmonton each spring. Ongoing changes to the CFP® designation routes were a big topic and podcasts which everyone seems to like.
Our first stop was in Prince George to see Wes at Sunlife. Busy as usual, and Wes suggested we stop in Smithers to see the group people.
Met with Brandy and Tianna from CBIG and toured their office. Went for great lunch at an Italian place.
Mike, one of our CFP® Certification Education Program students, from IG was next.
Then on to Houston where we met with Gilbert from Bulkley Valley Credit Union. Nice breakfast at A&W, and then we drove up to Smithers to meet Tim, Gilbert’s business partner. Stopped to see the Pacific Employee Benefits people and had a very nice visit. Discussed LLQP and CFP® designation.
Terrace where we met Coleen and Todd for breakfast (great waffle) and toured their new office. Very warm and welcoming.
Off to Prince Rupert where we toured the town and had fish n chips at Cow Bay and toured the harbour.
Back home to Langley and back to work. A wonderful 5 days.
