Dear Residents -

Sorry, friends, but it looks like there is another weather pattern moving in tonight and into tomorrow bringing arctic air and extreme cold with it. Yet, another storm system is expected to arrive Sunday evening and into Monday with the possibility of heavy precipitation and strong winds (https://www.facebook.com/RCFireandEmergency). Town Hall will be open as a warming center from Saturday through Monday, from 9 am to 9 pm. The Orangetown Police Department asks residents to check in with them as Town offices will not be open.

It is a bit frightening to think that it is only January 14th and our Highway Department is already looking at the possibility of a third snow plow event. I sincerely hope that this is not a sign of what is to come this winter but, if it is, I know that Orangetown is in good hands with Jim Dean and his staff. After all, Mr. Dean has been recognized twice by the American Public Works Association for Excellence in Snow and Ice Control.

But don’t let this winter weather get you down because our Parks and Recreation Department has winter programs for just about everyone. There are various swim and kickboxing programs for all ages, hiking with Coach Hudson, gymnastics, ice skating (weather permitting), Comic Book School and Classic Games - where you can learn to play Bingo, Battleship, Connect Four and Uno. And if there is not anything there that suits you, check out 101 Things to do in Orangetown that was put together by our recreation staff.

If you are able to get out and about this weekend, please try and stop by one of the two Diaper Drives going on in Orangetown on Sunday. Please scroll down for more information. Show your support by bringing in items from the list and honor Martin Luther King Jr. and his day of service.

Stay safe everyone and bundle up!

Respectfully,
Teresa M. Kenny

The YMCA Youth and Government District 4 Conference was held on Sunday, January 9, 2022 at Tappan Zee High School Auditorium.

Approximately 75 students from 6 high schools attended. The students listened to elected officials discuss their experience, education, what motivated and prepared them to become a leader in law and government.

In addition, students in the youth press corps asked each guest speaker several questions.

In addition to Supervisor Kenny, State Senator Elijah Reichlin-Melnick and Judge Linda Christopher were in attendance.
Public Service Announcement
Please take a moment to read a message from the American Heart Association and the Orangetown Police Department.

We haven't had a big storm yet this year, but both organizations are fairly certain we'll get at least one. Stay safe out there.
Upcoming Events
