If we don't teach our children to follow Christ, the world will teach them not to.
GOD KNOWS EVERYTHING (Day 39)

Because GOD KNOWS EVERYTHING, He is the source of all wisdom.

Preparation: Who do you think is the smartest person in the world? Why do you think he/she is so smart? How do you think he/she became so smart?

Read the Bible Memory Verse below.

BIBLE MEMORY VERSE
For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart,
and knoweth all things. (1 John 3:20)
Read Proverbs 1:7.
  • According to the Bible, how do we get true knowledge? (Fear the Lord. Fear in this case mean to trust in God and respect Him deeply.)
  • What does God call anyone that refuses His wisdom? (A fool)

Listen to what Benjamin Franklin did when the leaders of the United States needed some wisdom.

In 1787, the Constitutional Convention was on the verge of total failure. (That was the meeting when the leaders of our new country were making the laws to start our country. The leaders were arguing about who had the most power in the government, the big states or the small states.) The leaders could not decide whether small states should have the same number of votes in Congress as large states. You can imagine how worried the small states were to think that they might get left out of the decisions made in the government because they were small.

From the wisdom of his 81 years, Benjamin Franklin recalled the Scripture which says, "Except the Lord build the house, they labor in vain that build it" ( Psalm 127:1 ), and in this hopeless situation, he offered a suggestion. "Gentlemen," he said, "I have lived a long time and am convinced that God governs in the affairs of men. If a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it probable that an empire can rise without His aid? I move that prayer imploring the assistance of heaven be held every morning before we proceed to business." Mr. Franklin was saying that God is in charge of everything in history, so the leaders of the new government should talk to Him about the problems they were having in writing the Constitution with all the new laws.

The leaders of the United States did pray, and God heard their prayers. The argument was settled in a fair way, and the young states remained united. To this day, all legislative sessions continue to be opened with prayer.

Why did Benjamin Franklin suggest praying before the meetings? ( God is the One who decides whether nations rise or fall. God knows everything, even when a sparrow falls to the ground, so we should ask for His help!)

What do you think they needed from God? ( Wisdom.)

Whatever questions you have, whatever knowledge or wisdom you need, God is the person to go to. He's the only one who knows it all! If you want wisdom and knowledge, where do you start? ( You seek to know God better; He is the source of knowledge!)

Listen to what Romans 11:33 says,

"O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God!
how unsearchable are his judgments, and his ways past finding out!"

We are on an adventure to discover who God really is. The more we learn, the more riches of wisdom and knowledge we uncover as well! Just think, you are much wiser now than when we began our adventure! However, I bet you still have questions!

Has knowing God better helped answer some of your questions? If so, how?

God doesn't promise to give us answers right away. Many things we won't know until we are living with Him in Heaven. Until then, we can trust that He does know all the answers and that He knows what He's doing!

WHY DOES THIS MATTER:
Because God Knows Everything, He's the best person to go to for answers to my questions.

TAKING ACTION:
Thank God for His promise to give us wisdom when we ask for it. Let Him know if there is any thing you need wisdom for right now.

Because God Knows Everything, I will ________________________.

A Sample Prayer to Conclude Your Time
Dear God,
No one can comprehend what You know. Your knowledge surprises the brightest created mind there is. Thank you for preserving in Your Word the knowledge of Who You are. We praise You for your complete understanding of things past, present and future. You even examine our hearts to know all that we think, say and do. Thank You that through Your grace we can be forgiven of all the sinful things You know about us. We praise You for being the Only One we can trust with our future. You see what is ahead and your love and mercy guides us to wisdom that helps us. We have great peace and hope about the future because of You. Remind us to share Your hope with others.
In Jesus' Name we pray, Amen.
