Dear Friend,
I don’t know about you, but a positive aspect of the pandemic for me has been the opportunity to stay home and enjoy the small things in life more often. Walks in the sunshine, family dinners and reading on the front porch swing constitute some of my most cherished moments from recent months.
But when we tune in to what's truly going on around us, we realize that there is very little that feels small about the pandemic for the vulnerable. The compounding consequences can overwhelm all of us, in knowing how to respond. So, in this moment I invite you to reflect on how "small” matters profoundly in the Kingdom of God:
The Hubbard family, one of our first families to receive a Hephzibah62:4 Adoption Fund grant, recently celebrated their youngest son Micah’s first birthday! This small child (pictured here), born into vulnerable circumstances, is adored and thriving in his adoptive family. I was excited to approve our 6th adoption grant just last week!
The Orphan and Stand Sunday "Be the Light" theme for this year reminds us that individual efforts, represented by a small light, can make all the difference in the life of a child. Many lights shining together on November 8 will reflect a powerful movement of God that is transforming the lives of vulnerable children and families across the globe!
Small Matters – Little Things Can (re)Make a Life is this year’s theme for the orphan and vulnerable child ministry event of the year, CAFO2020. This event has moved to online September 10-11 will include many opportunities to explore together how small choices can (re)make lives – both our own and those we serve.
Throughout history God has often used the small and the humble to accomplish His great plans. Check out the opportunities here and ask God which small step of obedience He is calling you or your church to take today.
