Our lake's water quality: is better in summer or winter? The results are in! DEC's Dr. Lewis McCaffrey will be sharing what his team and CSLAP volunteers have learned through summer and winter sampling of Conesus Lake's water quality. These recent results will be contrasted with those from prior decades and with other Finger Lakes.

Meet south of Scottsville at the Canawaugus Park Parking Area for a ride on the Greenway and the Erie-Attica Trail into the Village of Avon. After a late breakfast at the Village Restaurant on the circle, return on the same route to Canawaugus Park for a total of 16 miles. Mountain or hybrid bikes recommended, helmets required.

STONE TOOL CRAFTSMAN SHOW

Featuring Flintknapping (tool-making demonstrations and vendors), Living History in the 19th Century Mountain Men Encampment. Additionally, the Eastern Seaboard Atlatl Competition. Atlatl (spear-throwing) activities begin on Thursday, August 22. The Park is also hosting the 33rd annual meeting of the World Atlatl Association this year.

NYS FESTIVAL OF BALLOONS

The beauty of an early morning flight is breathtaking as balloons gracefully float over our valley. The thrill of a mass evening launch is a real crowd pleaser. For those passengers taking their first flight, wonderful thoughts and memories will long endure. Though this is one of the largest events of its type, The New York Festival of Balloons, is a great deal more than hot air balloons. Take a look at the Schedule of events for this coming Labor Day Weekend and you will agree that there is something for everyone all weekend long at the NYSFOB.
