eBay Scouting Hot Finds Newsletter
Friday Morning Edition
Oct. 23, 2020

Any weekend you are going camping with the Scouts is a good one in my book.  This one will be extra special though.  I'm taking my Webelos Patrol to my boyhood camp for our first solo weekend trip.  We are really highlighting the patrol method and getting that set up for them to crossover in about 4 months.

Growing up I spent 7 summers on staff at Camp Coker and countless weekends there for OA events.  Some years ago I did some quick math and figured out that I have spent more than a year of my life (365+nights) at that camp.  So I am very excited to bring my son and his patrol to my old stomping grounds.  I don't know if you have ever tried to calculate how many nights you have slept at your home camp but I'll just say their ought to be a t-shirt for that. :)

Yesterday was the funeral for one of our fellow cloth hounds Jimmy Arthurs.  Jimmy was a one of the good ones who always loved to trade.  In fact until very recently I don't recall ever seeing him sell a patch - he did it for the fun of collecting.  He was at every NOAC, Dixie and Cardinal Conclave for decades and if you were a 1:1 patch trader all those years you might have shaken his hand.  He will be dearly missed by the brothers of Eswau Huppeday lodge where he has a key adviser.

This week I worked on what you might call the final sort in my warehouse.  When I packed up and moved back in March these were the boxes that were hastily packed and labeled "patches need to sort".  A few boxes were small collections that I purchased but never got around to opening. So I used my work table to organize everything into containers for OA, insignia, camps etc.  I found 2 patches that are in the $500+ range so that was definitely worth the effort.  Now to get them scanned and listed to really put a pin in the project.

I have 272 live auctions on eBay going into this weekend.  On Sunday there are 100+ flaps ending.  This will finish my run on OA conclaves.  I've gone through a giant collection of those mostly from the last 25 years.

I know on Sunday I will be a little later getting the Hot Finds published as I'll be coming back from camping.  But I should have it out in the afternoon.  I hope you have some great plans for this weekend.
Have a great weekend,
