Expanded Offerings for SPAN 109 and 110 ONLINE this Summer

Please make your advisees aware they can complete 6 hours of GFL credit this summer OFF CAMPUS! The Spanish Program has scheduled multiple sections of 109 and 110 ONLINE Summer 2020. These sections are open to all students. These courses are 100% asynchronous, so while there are deadlines to submit work online, there is a lot of flexibility. See the Master Schedule for options, and contact the Spanish Program with questions. 
Summer 2020 Tuition and Fees

Summer 2020 tuition and fees will be made available for students to view on Self Service Carolina (SSC) http://my.sc.edu April 16, 2020. The Summer 2020 tuition and fee payment deadline is May 27, 2020 at 5:00pm, regardless of when the course begins. Students who fail to pay their account balance in full or enroll in a payment plan by the payment deadline may have their summer class schedule cancelled for nonpayment.
Please direct students to the Bursar's Office at https://sc.edu/bursar/ for tuition and fee payment information.
Summer Opportunities Fair Digital Display

Summer and Fall 2020 Time Tickets Loaded

Summer and Fall 2020 time tickets have been loaded. Self-Service Carolina will be active for Fall 2020 starting Friday, 2/21. At that time, advisement holds can removed. Overrides can be processed. 
Note: Max hours cannot be updated until the student attempts registration in SSC.  
Two New Courses in the College of Education

The College of Education is offering a new course for undergraduates and graduates. EDUC 635: Anne and Emmett: Confronting Antisemitism, Racism and Otherness Through Pedagogy is taught by Dr. Meir Muller, an ordained rabbi and Early Childhood faculty member and Devin Randolph, a current Foundations of Education doctoral student at UofSC with a Masters in Public Administration with a concentration in Social Policy and Education from Cornell University.

The College of Education is also offering another new course: EDTE 202 (Global Citizenship and Social Responsibility Through Education) this summer. Beginning May 10 and ending June 4, this course meets the GSS and VSR requirements in the Carolina Core.

Office of Undergraduate Research - Discover 2020: Call for Abstracts

Discover USC is the university’s system-wide showcase bringing together undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral scholars and medical scholars to present research, creative and scholarly projects to the UofSC community and beyond. The event will take place on Friday, April 17 at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center (1101 Lincoln Street) in Columbia, SC. This event is free and open to the public. Students may register to present by submitting an abstract (description of experience) online at www.sc.edu/about/annual_events/discover/usc/registration/presenter_registration.php . This annual event is proudly sponsored by the Office of the Vice President for Research.

Here’s how you can take part in this exciting event:
1)            Encourage your students to register by Friday, March 6, and present their research, creative or scholarly project. Attached is marketing you may use in your communications with students about the event as well as workshops that will help them prepare their abstracts.
2)            Register to serve as a presentation reviewer or event-support volunteer by Friday, March 27 . Your participation is vital to the success of the day, plus, reviewers and volunteers get a free boxed lunch.
3)            Register to request an outreach table by Friday, March 20. A limited number of free outreach tables are available to showcase your lab, research group or other faculty/staff-supported campus organization that promotes scholarship, research, creativity and/or leadership.
