BC Report
2020
Hello and welcome to beautiful British Columbia. Summer finally arrived late June with heat warnings for many parts of the province. For the most part though grass growing weather in BC has been pretty good. I have heard many comments regarding the good conditions at golf courses around the province.
In BC, the BCGSA has been hosting regular meetings via Zoom, and through these meetings I have been informed that most of our events have been cancelled as a result of Covid-19 restrictions.
In a year like no other Mother Nature has chosen to put a wrench in Superintendents’ best laid out plans across Ontario. Record number of days over 30 degrees combined with drought like conditions has certainly made maintaining turf difficult. The beginning of August has been a little more cooperative as much needed rain and cooler temperatures have finally arrived. The cooler temperatures have also been a benefit to golfers as we are approaching record breaking number of rounds being played across the province.
