The Parish Survey - Don't Miss Your Chance
Survey Closes to Responses next Friday, November 12

  • What are you looking for in our next Rector?
  • What are your priorities for our next chapter - eg. Youth, Music, Spiritual Growth, Pastoral Care, Outreach?
  • How has St. Francis been doing recently in your opinion?

Questions are both multiple choice and free-form text for your opinions.

We will soon be seeking applications for a new Rector. This is your chance to speak up (anonymously) and say what you are thinking, feeling and hoping for before candidates start to apply and to be considered.

The survey is intended for all those 16+ years of age participating either in-person or remotely in our parish community of worship. Responses are anonymous.
Saints Under Construction

We are sometimes conflicted about saints. A saint is usually defined as someone official recognized by the church as preeminent in holiness like our St Francis. In everyday usage, we consider people to be saints who are noted for their piety and virtue, particularly the virtue of patience (as in, “She has the patience of a saint”). We may have difficulty identifying with saints because they seem so lofty and apart from our everyday world. After all, we live with rude drivers on the highway, annoying co-workers, and crazed TV commentators that threaten to upset our halos.

Thankfully, the Apostle Paul helps us out with a better definition. He addresses his letters to the “saints” in a particular location. These saints (literally, “holy ones”) are the people of the churches who are seeking to follow in the way of Jesus, and you do not have to read far in these letters to realize that they were not always acting “saintly.” We, too, are “saints under construction” – a lifetime process of sanctification. Remember, we are already made holy through the death and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, now we must continually live into that reality.

This Sunday we will renew our baptismal covenant and remember our honored dead. We also invite you to remain for Story Day (or join us online) as we remember how the saints have shaped St Francis. And I encourage you to continue your own path of the saints, for as the song says, “the saints of God are just folk like me, and I mean to be one too.”
