Emergency Management Institute Course Registration Changes
Starting August 19th, FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute (EMI) will begin to use online applications for Basic Academy courses.

Portland Area Capabilities Exercise (PACE) After-Action Report & Improvement Plan
The Portland Metropolitan Area PACE 2019 full-scale exercise regional and county After Action Reports and Improvement Plans are now available.

Wildfire Door to Door
Multnomah County Emergency Management will host an educational door-to-door campaign on
September 14th in the Skyline area of western Multnomah County
to inform residents about: emergency notification systems, defensible space (wildfire hazard mitigation), and the levels of evacuation.

National Night Out
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign. MCEM recently participated in events in
Wood Village and Maywood Park and will also be participating at a National Night Out event tonight in Fairview.

Nationwide Emergency Alert System Test
FEMA, in coordination with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and radio and television Emergency Alert System (EAS) participants, will conduct a
nationwide test of EAS beginning at 11:20 a.m. PDT on Wednesday, August 7th, 2019.
A backup date is scheduled for Wednesday, August 21st, 2019, if needed.
The test, which uses IPAWS, will broadcast a test message that is approximately one minute long. Broadcast radio and television, cable, wireline service providers, and direct broadcast satellite service providers will each broadcast the test message once within a few minutes of the test.

is soon to depart Multnomah County and rejoin with FEMA. He has accepted a position with the Public Assistance Cadre beginning mid September. This transition means that we will
all
