Dear Families,

“Do you realize what I have done for you?” John 13:14 Next week begins Holy Week. During the Triduum ahead, let this single question of Jesus be sufficient for our silence, our prayer, our priorities, and our own pouring out of love. Together in these holy days, may we be moved by the Paschal Mystery to become, in all ways, merciful like our God.
As is our tradition here at SMV our 8th graders, under the guidance of Mr. Newman, will be performing at Living Stations. Unfortunately, due to COVID restriction, this will be taped for our families and sent out on Thursday Afternoon.

Why do Catholics wave palms on Palm Sunday, wash each other’s feet on Holy Thursday, or kiss the cross on Good Friday? Watch this 3 minute video from Busted Halo explain the significance of the final week we spend preparing for Easter. 
We have a limited amount of financial assistance for tuition available from the parish. The intent of our financial assistance is to help dedicated school families over the rough spots; it is not intended as long term financial aid. The selection process takes into account various factors that affect a family’s available funds, such as annual income, number of children in private schools, dependents other than children, etc.  

Other requirements include:
· Families applying for aid must have been contributing parishioners for at least 1 year prior to receiving aid.
· Generous time/talent support of parish, school and classroom activities and committees is expected.
· Aid for K3 is not available.
· An application and recent tax return are required.

We have contracted with Facts Tuition Management Co. to provide us with a fair, impartial and consistent analysis of each financial aid application. Applications must be submitted by May 1st of each year. This is the only way to be considered for tuition assistance from the parish. Volunteers Needed!
We are currently looking for 7th grade, 8th grade and high school age volunteers for SMV Vacation Bible School this summer!  
June 14-18th
This will be an excellent opportunity to share time and talent with others in our parish community.  
It's sure to be a fun-filled week!

T-ball at SMV is back!
Students entering K3-2nd grade in the fall of 2021 are eligible to participate. As in years past, t-ball will be on Wednesday nights from 6-7pm at the fields north of the church parking lot.
 
Our first game night will be Wednesday, June 16th and we will conclude on Wednesday, July 21st. Please watch for the sign up info around Easter-time! You will need to fill out two forms - (1) The sign-up sheet and (2) the Archdiocese participation waiver. The Covid safety measures we plan to employ will be communicated at that time.
 
A big THANK YOU to all of the parents/grandparents who volunteer their time as coaches! This program would not be possible without all of you, so please consider helping out again this year! You can sign up right on your child’s form. As always, to be a volunteer, you will need to complete the Archdiocese Safeguard training. It is done virtually.

Office Notes

The shorts season at SMV is May 1st thru October 15th.

Library request:
It's so great to see kids enjoying library books every week. As we approach Easter break, it would be best if you could search your house for books that need to be returned. It is often after long vacations that books go missing. Unless your child is in the middle of a lengthy book, please return books by April 1st. Book circulation will begin again after the break. Thank you.

Lost and Found Table
Inside the entrance of the school is our lost and found table. Please come and take a look to see if we have any of your child's missing items.

Parking Lot Courtesy
Parents please remember a few parking lot courtesies. Safety is number one. Watch for students riding their bikes or walking through the parking lot. If you have to get out of your car for any reason, please park your car in the designated parking spots. We like to keep the drive thru lane moving.

Home & School/School Committee Meeting
In Mrs. Biebel's class, they prayed the decade of the rosary with the rosaries that they made.
The third grade retreat started in the Senior Center with students reading Bible stories about forgiveness. They had quiet time to write in their prayer journals. They also made a foldable about what they know about Lent.
Then, we returned to the classroom to listen to the “Legend of the Lenten Pretzel” and enjoy some pretzels and juice-boxes.  Last, students made their own crucifix out of clothespins.

People in our family..... The Hagman Family - Steve, Liz, Eli (4th grade), Lauren (2nd grade), Miles (K5) and Wyatt (age 3). 
Our family likes to... hang out together on day trips to museums, the zoo, visit model railroad shows, and various kid sports games. 
Our family pet is.... none.
Places our family has lived... born and raised in Wisconsin, currently live in Wauwatosa.
Our family loves being a part of SMV because....we are surrounded by people who are trying their best to know, love, and serve God.

Dear SMV Families and Friends-

When we set out to complete our most recent Home and School Fundraiser- Blarney in a Box- we had a fundraising goal of $15,000. We had never done a fundraiser like this one, and we weren't quite sure what to expect. We have enough numbers in at this point to project that we blew our goal out of the water, raising an estimated $40,000 to benefit our awesome school!  Thank you to our sponsors, donors, volunteers and supporters who helped turn a fundraiser "in a box" into GOLD for our school!

Funds raised through Blarney in a Box will be used to support ongoing school expenses, our art program, and the teacher and principal funds. And, because our community worked extra hard and exceeded our goal, we will purchase another Gaga Ball pit for the playground (Hooray!!) and additional items to enhance our Outdoor Classroom space upon its completion.
