With over 10 million copies of her "Neapolitan Novels" sold in over 50 countries, Elena Ferrante is a global literary sensation. She was named one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People in the World. A journey between New York City's cultural hub and Ferrante's native Italy, the film explores how an anonymous author's visceral tales of love and friendship gained such an enthusiastic following. Tuesday, February 4 at 7:00pm.

This film is a part of Hopewell Theater's ongoing series,  The Art of Living Well , featuring inspiring films, speakers and interactive discussions exploring ways of cultivating serenity, meaning and a deeper connection to one’s self and the world.
With influences ranging from Fats Domino and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band to Aretha Franklin and Tom Waits, the band draws from the last 100 years of American music, and is converting audiences one show at a time. So much more than just a blues act, DATV’s shows are filled with New Orleans charm, Memphis soul swagger, dark theatrical moments that evoke Kurt Weill, and tender gospel passages. Davina’s voice and stage presence defy category in a different way. Davina has been compared to Etta James, Amy Winehouse, Janis Joplin, Billie Holiday and Betty Boop, but comparisons don’t suffice. Sowers is a true original. Thursday, February 6 at 7:30 pm.
Hailed as “The new master of the slide guitar” by the Montreux Jazz Festival and “The real thang” by the legendary Bootsy Collins. Gordon Hempton is a man who has devoted himself to capturing the unaffected sounds of nature before it's too late. An Emmy-winning sound engineer, he is fascinated by the notion of pure and natural sound, and he often hikes through the wilderness with a portable recording rig, hoping to capture the sound of a particular bird or animal in its natural habitat, or the ambient sounds of a clearing without the aural intrusion of human-made machinery. Tuesday, February 11 at 7:00pm.

The True Story of
Dr. Mary Walker
Of all the 3,200 Congressional Medal of Honor winners, Dr. Mary Walker is the only woman to win our country’s highest award for heroism. She was a Civil War surgeon, dress reform crusader, women’s rights activist, suffragist, feminist, and abolitionist. Walker did not take her husband’s name upon marriage, and their wedding vows did NOT have the word OBEY in them. She was a prisoner of war, and strong patriot.

And yet, writer/director Lloyd J. Schwartz had never heard of her. Actress Kathie Barnes, who portrays Dr. Mary Walker in this one-woman play, notes that Dr. Mary Walker is truly a hero, and she is touched and honored to portray her. Saturday, March 28 at 8:00pm.
