A message from your Chamber
It's BACK-TO-SCHOOL time! I hope you all are planning to enjoy the tax-free weekend by shopping IN TAYLOR
During this annual sales tax holiday, you can buy most clothing, footwear, school supplies and backpacks (sold for less than $100) tax free. I have been seeing some great items online from various downtown shops so shop local first this (and every) weekend.  The best part is that you can pick up some fabulous clothes and shoes for yourself, too, and enjoy them tax-free.
Taylor's teachers are already back in their classrooms. Students will join them on Thursday, Aug. 15, except for Legacy Early College High School students who don't return to school until Monday, Aug. 19.
Don't miss your opportunity to Meet the Ducks 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14 out at the "Duck Pond" Taylor High School stadium. It's a fun, event that will get you and yours in that "Once A Duck, Always A Duck" spirit.
Getting students ready for school doesn't start in the days before school starts. And, in Taylor, we recognize that. Thanks to work by the Rotary Club of Taylor and the United Way of Williamson County, local families can get their children on the right track from day 1 -- The Dolly Parton Imagination Library.
This program is designed to foster a love of readying by providing one FREE age-appropriate book EACH MONTH mailed directly to the child's home from birth until their fifth birthday.
If a child is signed up at birth, they'll receive 60 different books by the time they reach the age of five, when they officially age out. In each age group, two titles are bilingual (Spanish and English).
Almost every child of the same age will receive the same books each year, and many of the books come with discussion guides for parents or caregivers. The Imagination Library partners with the American Printing House for the Blind to provide books in Braille as well.
We have forms in English and Spanish at the Chamber of Commerce, 1519 N. Main, and you can get them from Taylor schools, too.
Please spread the word! Literacy is an important project that benefits our entire community!

We are in the final days for Early Bird pricing for the EXPO & JO B FAIR scheduled for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14.
It's a fact that people like to do business with people they know. The EAST WILCO BUSINESS EXPO AND JOB FAIR, gives you the time and the place to get in front of potential customers and tell them your story in a way that captivates them and allows you to turn them into customers.
You should plan to be there!  Early birds registration is $179 for Chamber members and $221 for non-members. To take advantage of this price, registration and payment must be received by 5 p.m. Aug. 9.
Other sponsors include platinum sponsors, Sirloin Stockade and Taylor Press; gold sponsor, Baylor Scott and White and silver sponsor, the Williamson County Republican Party.   Sponsorships offer prime booth locations, extra promotion and advertising and they are still available.
