INSPIRATION AND ENCOURAGEMENT

It’s been five months since “Happenings” adapted to these challenging days by sharing predominantly ‘virtual and video’ events. Throughout, we have been encouraged by readers affirmative comments and appreciative of suggestions and references to interesting tidbits that may be shared. We remain steadfastly grateful and filled with hope, even in these strange and truly weird times… yet, there are amazing acts of kindness and caring all around; we enjoy the riches of nature and find inspiration in little things when least expected. Many things are still difficult, as patterns in our lives change, but then comes along an unexpected lesson from a very determined Loon. Having just caught an enormous fish, the Loon is trying it’s very best to fly away with the treasure. Captured on camera by Peter Bloch… in a fortuitous moment.

The old adage, "if at first you don’t succeed , try, try again" comes to mind… inspiration and encouragement for all of us.

Principal's "Can't Touch This" COVID-19 Parody Has Millions Cracking Up

Returning to school during a pandemic has many people pondering all the surfaces that will need to be sanitized. Alabama principal Dr. Quentin Lee is clearly anticipating telling students, "You can't touch that," as the year resumes... so why not set the reminder to music?

With the help of a few students, Dr. Lee kicked off the new school year with a hilarious COVID-19 parody of MC Hammer's "U Can't Touch This." Not only are the lyrics on point, Dr. Lee even does the Hammer shuffle down the hallway — with a ruler measuring six feet between students.

"Stop! Hammer Time" is so 1990. In 2020, Dr. Lee sings, "Stop! Sanitize!" Check out the video, and you'll be singing along.

We’re late, so late, we totally overlooked a very important date: August 4th was "National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day"! Personally, we think this iconic treat deserves more than just one day, so we suggest celebrating all this week, too. Don’t forget the milk!

THE LIVERY

Project Sunapee congratulates the nonprofit Sunapee Heritage Alliance upon receiving a grant to further their mission of restoring and re-purposing The Livery in Sunapee Harbor.

When Project Sunapee served as fiscal and logistical agents for the Town to build the Sugar River Covered Bridge… it did so with the dream of saving the “Old Town Hall” as a historic treasure and valuable asset for generations to come; and further calling attention to the building's value by staging public events there and decorating for the holidays. Then along came the Sunapee Heritage Alliance to guide that mission to fruition.
