A Message from the Children's School Division Director
Dear Children's School Parents,

It is with great excitement that I write my first letter to you as the Children's School Division Director. I am eager to meet you and your children in the weeks ahead, but I wanted to say 'hello' and share a little bit about me.

I recently arrived in Colorado Springs after spending this past year in Boulder, CO. I graduated a week ago from the Boulder Journey School Teacher Education Program with an M.S. in Education and Human Development. During this time, I also completed a teaching practicum with three-year-old preschoolers. Before that, I was Head of the Middle School at Indian Mountain School in Lakeville, CT. I wore many hats during my 25-year tenure there, and for the majority of that time, I primarily worked with 5th and 6th graders. Previously, I also taught Kindergarten, third, and fourth grade.

To know me is to know that I care deeply about family, and I will care about your family too. I have been married to my husband, Dan, for the past 28 years. We are the proud parents of Courtney, age 23, and Will, age 21. Courtney will be beginning her second year of teaching in the east and Will is a senior at St. Lawrence University in Canton, NY. Dan and I have recently moved to the area and are settling in central Colorado Springs.

I am thrilled to be here and have discovered I love these mountains! I look forward to exploring them and all that Colorado Springs has to offer. So, if you have a favorite trail or something you particularly love to do in this part of Colorado, please share!

As I look ahead to the fall, I am excited about getting to know your children and working with you and their teachers to make this a fun and productive year. My office door is always open so please don't hesitate to reach out by phone at (719) 434-3530, email at [email protected] or in person.

Here's to a great year in the Children's School!
Sincerely,

Jody Bates Bliss
