Welcome to the 2019-2020 School Year!
Meet Your Teacher
The 2019-2020 school year started with "Meet Your Teacher" on Friday, August 2! We had an awesome turn-out and are thankful for our A+ staff, FHPTO, parents, and community!
Students and parents got to visit their classrooms to meet their new teachers, see old friends, and drop off supplies.
In the multipurpose room, the FHPTO and many school and community clubs were there for sign-ups and treats. There are so many opportunities for students at McDowell Mountain!

First Day of School
August 6 was the first day of school with lots of learning and fun in the PS-3rd grade classrooms; special area classes of Art, Music, PE, and STEM; recesses; and lunchtimes! FHPTO also made the first day great with their "Boohoo/Yahoo Breakfast" for parents.

Muffin's Musings
Back to School
I need to go to bed. Staying up late all summer sure has made it tough getting up so early in the mornings. I didn't realize how hard it was until this year.
But I'm so excited about a new school year. I've missed all of my friends! I can't wait to tell them all about my summer too. I wonder what they did all summer long. Did they go to the pool, visit cousins, see a baseball game, take a vacation... Oh, I can't wait to talk to them!
I also excited to see what they did to my school. I heard they made it safer for all of us. I've always felt safe at school but my mom says now it's even better. I can't wait to see my teacher and to give a hug to my old teachers too. I know they like to see me and want to make sure I still have that friendly wagging tail of mine. I tried to read as much as I could over the summer just to make my new teacher happy. I know it will help me get off to a great new start.
New year, new teachers, new friends, new school supplies, and a new lunchbox! WOW! I'm just so excited...my tail just can't stop wagging!

FHPTO Coin Drive: Now Through August 15
MidFirst Bank is partnering with the Fountain Hills PTO to help raise money!
You can help too, by fundraising and donating change now through August 15. MidFirst Bank will match the first $1,000 raised and add $250 if we get to $2,000 in donations. Our goal is $3,000. There will be coin jugs placed at the front offices. One jug per grade. Have your child bring in any extra change and have them deposit it into their corresponding jug.
The MidFirst Fundraising Van will be on site at the Back to School Night on Thursday, August 15 from 5:45 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. at McDowell Mountain Elementary School. Please bring your change to put in the van and enter for your chance for your child's class to win an ice cream party. All coins will be counted at this time. If you don't have coins, bring a check or paper currency and we will turn them into coins!
Join the excitement and remember, all proceeds go to supporting our teacher and student initiatives!
Kindergarten Color Days
Please help our kindergarten students master their colors by encouraging all of your PS-3rd grade children to wear the color of the day on "Kindergarten Color Days" starting August 19:
August 19: RED
August 20: ORANGE
August 21: YELLOW
August 22: GREEN
August 23: BLUE (Go Falcons!)
August 26: PURPLE
August 27: PINK
August 28: BROWN
August 29: BLACK AND WHITE
