Dear Parish Pro-Life Coordinator,

Thank you for the warm welcome I've received. I am so honored to be serving as your new Parish Liaison. I met several of you at our recent Summer Mass ( view pictures here), and I hope to meet many more of you at our upcoming Parish Pro-Life Coordinator meeting next Saturday, Aug. 10, at Blessed Sacrament in Dallas.

As the national pro-life landscape continues to heat up -- and we're seeing the effects of this on the sidewalks -- it is more important than ever that we stand together as a voice for the voiceless and preserve the dignity of all life.

As a Parish Pro-Life Coordinator, YOU play an integral role by making sure your parish understands the pro-life issues and is aware of the many opportunities to become active disciples for life.  That's why CPLC provides this monthly email. Everything you need can be found right here. And, of course, I am always here to help.

40 DAYS FOR LIFE

One of those opportunities is around the corner, as we launch our next 40 Days for Life Dallas pr ayer campaign from Sept. 25 - Nov. 3 outside Southwestern abortion facility. We need prayer warriors to pray and witness 24/7 during all 40 days.

Did you know that when there's a prayer presence outside of an abortion facility their appointments decrease by up to 75 percent! As a sidewalk counselor, I can attest to that.

Many parishes have already signed up to adopt a day of prayer. If your parish hasn't yet,  please consider now which day (s) you would like to adopt and start encouraging your parish family to join you in prayer, so that we can save as many babies during this vigil as possible.

Be sure to save the date for the Kickoff Rally on Sept. 24, at 7 p.m., at Gaston Oaks Christian Center, right across from Southwestern abortion facility. Come learn the latest pro-life news and how we can be effective champions for life. Promotional materials are available in the left sidebar menu and more details will be coming soon at prolifedallas.org/40days .

SAINT CLARE OF ASSISI

This month, on August 12, we will celebrate the feast day of St. Clare of Assisi.  One of the more sugary movies made about Francis of Assisi pictures Clare as a golden-haired beauty floating through sun-drenched fields, a sort of one-woman counterpart to the new Franciscan Order.

The beginning of her religious life was indeed movie material. Having refused to marry at 15, Clare was moved by the dynamic preaching of Francis. He became her lifelong friend and spiritual guide.

At 18, Clare escaped from her father's home one night, was met on the road by friars carrying torches, and in the poor little chapel called the Portiuncula received a rough woolen habit, exchanged her jeweled belt for a common rope with knots in it, and sacrificed her long tresses to Francis' scissors. He placed her in a Benedictine convent, which her father and uncles immediately stormed in a rage. Clare clung to the altar of the church, threw aside her veil to show her cropped hair, and remained adamant.

Sixteen days later her sister Agnes joined her. Others came. They lived a simple life of great poverty, austerity, and complete seclusion from the world, according to a Rule which Francis gave them as a Second Order. At age 21, Francis obliged Clare under obedience to accept the office of abbess, one she exercised until her death.

Let's us take inspiration from St. Clare of Assisi's commitment to her calling and her willingness to sacrifice for our Lord. Thank you for your commitment and sacrifice for our Lord's most vulnerable.

God Bless,
