MEET THE 2019-20 ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE LEADERSHIP
The Economic Development Committee provides participating legislators an opportunity to address issues related to regional fiscal and economic trends. The committee facilitates policy discussions and the exchange of information regarding issues associated with the impact of recessions, stimulus funding, state fiscal trends, taxation, business incentives, revenue forecasting, and performance-based budgeting - among others. The committee convened during the recent 72nd Annual Meeting for member conversations and engagement with topic experts on selected key issues.

Representative Brad Last -  E lected in 2002, Representative Last is currently serving his ninth term in the Utah House of Representatives. He chairs the Executive Appropriations Committee and serves on the Education Standing Committee and the Revenue and Taxation Interim Committee.  He has served on other committees and task forces throughout his legislative career. Prior to his legislative service, Representative Last was an elected member of the Washington County Board of Education for eight years.   Read Full Bio
 
Senator Ben Allen -  Senator Ben Allen was elected in 2014 to represent the 26th District of the California Senate, where he grew up. He  serves as Chair of the Senate Environmental Quality Committee and the legislature's Joint Committee on the Arts. He is a member of the Senate Committees on Natural Resources and Water, and Governmental Organization. He chairs the Select Committee on Aerospace and Defense, is Chair of the Legislative Jewish Caucus and Co-Chair of the Environmental Caucus.  Read Full Bio

A REVIEW OF ANNUAL MEETING CHAIR'S FORUMS
CSG West Chair, Representative Kimberly Dudik, hosted two Chair's Forums during the recent Annual Meeting to provide an opportunity for in depth conversation on key issues impacting the western region - Foster Care and Forest & Rangeland Management. During each session, topic experts shared information and experiences with attending law members. Throughout the sessions, attending members engaged with presenters and other participants to focus on collaborative solutions to these challenges. Event Updates
A NEW TOOL IN THE FIGHT AGAINST INVASIVE SPECIES
The Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office recently announced a new team member focused on protecting the waterways from invasive species. Puddles, a 2-year old Jack Russel terrier mix, has been trained to detect quagga and zebra mussel larvae on boats. Attendees at the upcoming Legislative Council on River Governance (LCRG) meeting will enjoy an opportunity to meet Puddles and learn more about her contributions to keeping the waterways safe.
