Time flies. Twenty years have passed in a flash , the Association of Chinese Americans has maintained a summer camp themed with Chinese culture, from the beginning of small camps with only twenty people to large camps that affect thousands of Chinese young adults between the ages of four and fifteen. Diligently working hard, our aim is to provide an opportunity for our young adults to interact with those from different ethnic groups and cultural backgrounds and deepen the understanding of Chinese culture. Through a variety of learning activities, we can also improve the influence of Chinese culture. Our diligent work has been rewarded with fruitful results, many of past year’s students have now grown into counselors and teachers, nurturing the summer camp with their own abilities and experiences, learning and growing with the new students together. April showers bring May flowers. Traditional Chinese virtues are well carried forward here.

This year's summer camp, a s usual , is based on dynamic and static cultural curriculum, which combines teaching with entertainment, and actively invites the participation of communities and colleges. Dr. Alice Jo Rainville, professor of nutrition, and Rachel Bessire, nutrition and dietitian, have weekly nutrition classes for children. Schoolcaft Community College cooking department and Co Chair Helen Ditouras of the International Institue and her team bring live cooking demonstrations to the children; Comerica Bank provides children with information on financial management and how to learn financial management from an early age. In order to enrich our after-class classes, we invited professor xiang and his teaching assistants from the university of Michigan Dearborn to offer python courses for children. Spencer Wong, a member of the university of Michigan Revolution Yoyo club, brought advanced Chinese Yoyo classes for children.

Although only three weeks, the camp's courses and activities are colorful and creative. Chinese poetry and rap language learning, music dance with national style and modern integration, painting, calligraphy, cooking, martial arts, bell ring and other indoor classroom entertainment, let the children swim in the palace of Chinese culture, ACA and Kensington Park, let the children fly their dreams in nature.
