We can make Halloween as special as ever!
Make Halloween a giving opportunity. Create a Halloween fairy garden for the pleasure of little ghosts and witches! Turn Halloween into a gift for homebound neighbors, or residents in assisted living homes. Plan an outdoor visit in costume! Wave, blow kisses, do a little line dance, sing a special song. then go home for a special evening of games, movies, popcorn!

If you are ready to venture forth, there are a few "scary-boo" events! Check today and come back for more.
We need humor. Oh do we need humor! Listen to a baby laugh at the little oddities! Pure joy floods their entire being. Humor relieves tension, deflates an argument, ends a tense work week, grounds a teenager, interrupts a temper tantrum (all ages), bonds a class and teacher. Our nation needs gentle, witty, not biting, humor. So bring on the jokes, choose to watch more comedies. Start with the littles: 50 BestJokes for Kids and 20 Not That Lame Knock Knock Jokes and as their vocabulary and sense of humor gain sophistication, bring on the punny jokes.

Enjoy the weekend with your young jokesters, Parmalee
What is the current status of schools
in Santa Cruz County?

In-Person? Distance-Learning? Combination Choices?
You would have to be living under a rock to not know that throughout the world there are differing opinions and practices about the efficacy of lockdowns. The seismic shift created by covid19 in our educational environment has generated incredulity, frustration, creativity, ingenuity, teamwork, and unique solutions to this crisis. Parents, teachers, administrators and children are adapting to change and offering innovative approaches to learning, yet most yearn for the day their children’s schools are open safely.

What is the current status of schools in Santa Cruz County? Who is closed? Who is open and how? We asked schools for their status and if a response has not yet arrived, we checked their websites and/or facebook pages. Here's the scoop! > > >
October!
A Timely Online Course
A local DAD and attorney emailed me to suggest that I share with readers "the best course I ever took about the Supreme Court. It would be good for high school kids, maybe some middle school kids, with parents participating for discussion purposes." Here. Check out the Supreme Court's very own website.
