Minister's Moment

This Sunday marks week two of our six-week Group Study focused on the best-selling book The Gifts of Imperfection. The purpose of the book, by Brene’ Brown, is to guide you on your journey to wholeness. Week one’s lesson introduced the tools for the journey. These tools are courage, compassion and connection. It takes courage to speak the truth of your experience and be vulnerable to others. It takes compassion to set appropriate boundaries with kindness to yourself and others. And finally, when you show up in this way, you create the greatest opportunity to connect. Brene’ says, “Love and belonging are essential to the human experience. As I conducted my interviews, I realized that only one thing separated the men and women who felt a deep sense of love and belonging from the people who seem to be struggling for it. That one thing is the belief in their worthiness.” So, do you feel worthy?

Everyone sets conditions for their worthiness. For example, I will be worthy if . . . I lose weight, I stay sober, I hold my marriage together, my parents approve of me, or I have enough money. However, the truth is that it is being “worthy now” that is at the heart of wholeheartedness. So how do you get to worthiness and what does that mean? Moreover, how do you claim it? The next step on your journey to wholeheartedness is learning to reclaim your sense of belonging and well being. See you Sunday.

If you can’t spend Sunday with us in person, watch the service through our live-stream at 10 am or catch up on any of our services through our on-line archive . Thank you for your interest in Unity and may your spiritual path be one of joy and fulfillment.
