SCRLC Welcomes New Librarians
Welcome to Jessica Brooks and Julia Corrice! Jessica is our new Educational Services Librarian and you can contact her at [email protected]. She will manage SCRLC's continuing education program, explore digital badging, and seek ways to help library workers engage and dig deeper with their learning. Jessica will be working Mondays - Thursdays from 9 a.m. - 3:45 p.m.

Julia is taking over as our Digital Services Librarian and she can be reached at [email protected]. Julia will manage SCRLC's New York Heritage program and will be the region's liaison with the Empire State Digital Network (ESDN)/Digital Public Library of America (DPLA). She will also work with electronic resources and technology. Julia will be available Mondays - Fridays from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.

SCRLC RBDB 2015 Grants Are Available

Application Deadline:  March 2, 2015

 

SCRLC's Board of Trustees has approved $20,000 to fund information technology projects that benefit the SCRLC region and contribute to resource sharing, under the auspices of the Regional Bibliographic Databases & Interlibrary Resources Sharing (RBDB) Program.

 

Applications are available in Word or PDF format.

Computer Security and Internet Safety Fundamentals -  

Learn how to safeguard your computers and laptops, keep your digital data secure, and protect your privacy online with author Jess Stratton.

 

LastPass Password Management Fundamentals -  

Author Suzanna Kaye helps viewers save time, increase security, and reduce stress by learning how to store and retrieve password and identity information securely with this popular password management and retrieval platform.

  

Any SCRLC member organization staff can use lynda.com for 2 weeks, as many courses or videos as you have time for. Contact Jessica Brooks at [email protected] to request access or get more information.

 
Library Advocacy Unshushed MOOC
This free, online course was initially offered last year and is being offered again, starting on February 2 for 7 weeks by edX. It is an important resource for all library advocates.
