Welcome to CSM's October 2020 Newsletter
Camp Sancta Maria's mission is to let God meet the deepest needs of today's youth by forming and transforming young lives in a beautiful northern Michigan setting. To provide young people a technology-free, safe, and faith-filled natural atmosphere packed with fun, where new outdoor experiences and activities enable campers to create healthy relationships and grow spiritually, personally, and communally.
At CSM, We Strive to Love Like Christ
Dear Friends and Family of Camp Sancta Maria,
Welcome to our October 2020 newsletter! We pray that you and your loved ones are well, and that you are enjoying the beautiful fall weather.

We look forward each fall to sharing with you stories of our campers from the summer. Today, however, we look for inspiration from Blessed Carlo Acutis, a young man who never attended CSM, but someone we believe will serve as an inspiration not only for our campers, but for all of us.

We also share with you an update about 2021 registration.

Finally, we invite you to join with us in congratulating the recipient of our 2020 Thomas Bean Honorary Award.
With humble hearts, we thank you for your continued support of Camp Sancta Maria. It is only with your prayers and your financial support that CSM continues to thrive.

Thank you again, stay safe, and God bless you.

Warm regards,

John David Kuhar

Italian Teen Could Become First Millennial Saint
"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young,
but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct,
in love, in faith and in purity. 1 Timothy 4:12
We want to share with you the story of Blessed Carlo Acutis, a young boy from Italy who was recently beatified, which is one of the steps to becoming a recognized saint. Carlo is believed to be a powerful intercessor for the youth and a great example to hold up for them. We hope this brief story will inspire you to learn more about him and encourage your children to do the same.

Blessed Carlo Acutis' story is very inspiring and a great example of following God and living a life of holiness in today’s world. Carlo was born in 1991, and according to all accounts was a typical young boy. He loved video games, soccer, and ice cream. He grew to love the Mass and the Eucharist and would attend daily Mass. He had such a deep love for the Eucharist that he researched and created his own website documenting the different Eucharistic miracles that have taken place in the world.

Carlo was also known for his kindness and charity. One story tells how Carlo spent his savings to buy a sleeping bag for a homeless man he encountered on his way to church. What a wonderful example of one of CSM's core values that we instill in our campers: Love like Christ!

Carlo was a regular kid who desired to grow in holiness and serve God and others. This is God’s call for each of us–to grow in holiness by loving God and others.

Carlo died of leukemia at the young age of 15. He offered all of his sufferings to God for the Church and the Pope. Blessed Carlo is a great example of what it means to follow God faithfully each day.

Blessed Carlo, pray for all youth and in a special way for those who come through the gates of CSM!

Below is a link to a more in-depth look into Carlo Acutis’ life and story. We encourage you to share Blessed Carlo's story with your children and grandchildren.

We Are Grateful for Your Prayers
and Your Financial Support
CSM is held in a trust governed by an independent Board of Trustees. While the Archdiocese of Detroit had generously donated the services of one its priests for decades, they are not responsible for CSM financially. This means that we are responsible to secure our own funding to advance the mission that has been passed down to us since our founding in 1933. To continue this essential work, we need your help. Are you feeling called to donate? Thank you for your prayerful consideration!
Camp Sancta Maria is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charity. Our tax id number is 38-6086752. Donors may deduct contributions as provided in Section 170 of the Internal Revenue Code.
