Our website is up, we hope you have taken a look. It is a pleasure to browse and we welcome your feedback. The volunteer honor this month goes to Jo Zurwell, who chairs the Web site Committee, and truly put her heart and soul working with our developers and assorted staff who all had a role to play in getting the pieces put together. Her persistence, with humor, and insistence on nothing short of perfection is exactly what was needed to put together a product well worth the effort.
Thank you also to Steve Lefoley who indexed every baptism, marriage, and burial in our 155 church repertoires. My guess would be several thousand pages worth of records for your researching pleasure. Steve is also diligently working on indexing a huge number of newspaper obituaries that will all be added to the Members-Only section in upcoming phases.
I also would like to thank the volunteers who staffed our booth in the exhibit hall at the New England Regional Genealogical Consortium Conference held here in Manchester in April. Thank you to Janine Penfield, Jeanne Boisvert, Ed Lamarine and other helpers. Other ACGS members who served on various conference committees including Gerry Savard and Pauline Cusson who were two of the four Conference Chairs and myself for the 5th time served as Meals Chair. A worthy endeavor with over a thousand in attendance.
We have a relatively small pool of incredibly dedicated volunteers who turn the wheels of the organization. We are now in need of a Publicity Chair to improve our visibility in the local and regional area. If you have any interest please email
Volunteer@acgs.org
, with "Publicity" in the Subject Line.
Please feel free to email acgs@acgs.or with any questions or concerns.

Spotlight on Journals and Periodicals
How Can I Find Something Useful to My Research?
ACGS
exchanges periodicals with other societies and organizations.
Our member, Larry
Autotte
#3505, compiles articles from this and other journals in the
From Other Publications
section of
American-Canadian Genealogist
.
In the past, Periodical Resource Index (PERSI) was accessed at HeritageQuest or Ancestry, it is now offered by FindMyPast.org, a paid subscription site. Enough of PERSI can be accessed for you to find the names of articles in journals that may be on our shelves.
|
From Findmypast's homepage, click on Our Records
|
|
|
In the A-Z Search of record sets, type "periodical" in the box, select Periodical Source Index
|
|
|
The search function on this site is more complicated than when it was on HeritageQuest. It may take awhile to find how to use it effectively. Findmypast subscribers can browse articles in specific journals.
