October 17, 2019
What an inspiring and joy-filled 2019 Homecoming Week! It was great to see the students' PCA pride and enthusiasm, along with many creative and inspired outfits, too: doctors, athletes, therapists, superheroes, soldiers. The video below nails the life-affirming vibe on the PCA campus. I was also encouraged by so many alumni returning and reinforcing our school spirit and their friends. A heart-felt thank you to those of you who contributed in so many ways, such as our Lower School Food Drive and our Dig Pink Tournament/ Breast Cancer Cure fundraiser. Homecoming was a community strengthening and celebrating week. Thank you for your support!
Partnering with parents is central to how we approach our mission of maximizing each student's God given potential. As a wise person once told me, parenting is both the toughest and most blessed job God gives us. At PCA, we recognize this and take your mandate as parents to heart: "These words that I [Moses] command you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise." (Deuteronomy 6:6-7). We aim, at PCA, to come alongside you with: a biblical, moral framework that strengthens your teaching at home and at church; excellent teaching and coaching with committed and highly qualified teachers; and by encouraging, walking alongside, and working with you to raise your children and the next generation to grow, thrive, and impact God's world for good. We know that we are in support of you as parents, and we are joyful to gain and maintain your trust as we partner with you.
An extension of partnering with our families and parents is telling our stories and encouraging one another. To that end, I encourage you, our PCA families and friends, to join and contribute to our PCA Community Facebook Group. We are changing how we use this space to be where you are welcome to ask questions, share photos and videos of PCA activities and students, encourage one another, and interact with other members of the PCA Community at a distance. Using this platform while away from campus is a way to live out God's direction to encourage one another (Hebrews 10:24-25) while apart, so that our time together face to face is even better. Click this link to join PCA's private Facebook group to get and stay further plugged in to our community. My hope is that you will be encouraged and will be able to encourage others, as we collectively tell our PCA stories.

I pray that your family and you will have a safe, restful weekend, and that power from this storm is quickly restored. Thank you to the families who respond in such tough times, and those who must bear the brunt: first responders, line workers, truck and transportation providers, and road crews.

Blessings,
Mike Runey
Head of School
Note of Thanks
Below is a message from our Upper School Science Teacher, Bev Shevenell:

Thank you so much to all the people who came out in support of Dig Pink. I have been overwhelmed with the support I have been receiving from the PCA family. Many people have been praying and offering help of various kinds, and now you have provided this financial support. It is wonderful to be part of a family that pulls together to help their own. God bless you all!

In Christ,
Bev Shevenell
