Dear Old Donation,
What a great start we've had to the week! On Sunday we celebrated ODEC's Feast Day, complete with our Historic Traditions Commission wearing their colonial attire and providing us with ice cream and goodies following the 10:30 services. Best of all- we had the 1662 version of the Prayers of the People and ever-so-popular Confession. On Monday we had a great turnout for our third round of Thirst, hosted by Alex and Drew Stephenson at Pleasure House Brewing. Excellent conversation was had all around, on an intriguing concept: Hell. Stay tuned for next month's topic, and keep 2nd Mondays on your calendars!
Tonight, our Wednesday Supper and Studies program will kick off a series on Ethics After Easter-how we take a Christian perspective and engage with the ethical dilemmas that pervade our lives. This week we'll lay some groundwork and provide some tools for doing this kind of work, and over the next two weeks we'll have some case studies and hands-on practice in dealing with ethical dilemmas! Supper (Foon's!) begins at 6:00pm, with studies from 6:30-7:30pm.
On Saturday, with joy and sorrow, we remember the life of Helen Morris, whose funeral will be held at 12:00pm, with a reception to follow. Please join all of us in celebrating Helen's long and full life, and in supporting Earl, their children and their grandchildren.
Sunday will be our Celebration of Ministry Fair! Weather permitting, we will gather outside following the 10:30am services where all of our Commissions and various ministries will have tents and tables to display information about their ministry, as well as provide plenty of delicious snacks. It's always a fun, and scrumptious, way to learn about what's happening at Old Donation, and to maybe even find a way to get more deeply involved. Bob will be preaching at 8:00, 10:30, and at Sundays@5, and I'll be in the Gathering.
Keep on breathing life into this place, my friends, and I will see you all soon!
