Last week I posted my opposition to Senate Bill 202, a bill that would allow parole after only 11 ½ years for those now serving life sentences for first degree murder and first degree rape.  I faced considerable push back from bill supporters who argued that the bill places the decision to parole with the Parole Commission and their belief that the Parole Commission would not grant parole after 11 ½ years. Below is my floor speech explaining what that argument by the bill supporters is misleading and incorrect:
