Election of Officers & Trustees

In early July the Nomination Committee sent out notices inviting interested members to apply for Flag Officer or Board of Trustee positions.   The number of applicants that applied this year for the "Flag Officer" positions were just enough to fill the open positions.  Therefore, each Flag Officer position available will be filled by these applicants unopposed.   This year we have three  "Board of Director"  seats to fill... two seats are 3-year terms & one seat is a 1-year term.  We are pleased to announce that we had three Members apply for the Board of Trustee positions.  An election of officers will still take place to determine which candidates will obtain the 3-year terms.  Members are asked to  vote for 2 board candidates only  .  The two candidates with the most votes will obtain the 3-year term seats, while the  candidate  with the least votes will obtain the 1-year term seat.   Please find below the details of the election of officers with bios & resumes for each candidate.

This year's ballot is as follows:

Board of Trustees

candidates in alphabetical order

Patricia Gaull

My name is Pati Gaull, my husband, Frank, and I built our Sea Isle home in 2012 relocating permanently from Delaware County, Pennsylvania in 2013. We have been members of the Yacht Club for four years and I have served on the Membership Committee for two years, the By-laws Committee for three years, the Fashion Show Committee for one year, and also volunteering at the Junior Olympics for the past four years. While raising my children I was also very involved in my local community serving on the Board of Directors of the Glenolden Youth Club and Interboro Soccer Club.

I am a retired healthcare industry professional seeking a position as a member of the Board of Trustees. If afforded the opportunity to serve, I would represent the members of the Yacht Club with the enthusiasm and dedication this position warrants. For the majority of my career I held management positions in the regulatory compliance area of the healthcare industry, retiring in December of 2015 as the Director of Regulatory Compliance. In this position I was required to review, analyze for impact and oversee implementation of contract and regulatory requirements. Along with strong interpersonal skills, I believe these attributes mirror those needed to effectively serve the Board of Trustees and the membership of the Yacht Club of Sea Isle City.

The Yacht Club of Sea Isle City has provided my husband and me with the sense of community we hoped for when retiring to the island. Not only do we love and take advantage of the Club, our children and grandchildren love attending as well. It would be my honor to represent you and bring your comments and ideas forward as a member of the Board of Trustees. I thank you for the opportunity to serve.

As the commissioner of the league, it was my responsibility to enforce the rules of the association as well as ensuring that we had a competitive program. It was also important to assure all participants were engaged to assure a fun time and fellowship.

I have been attending the Yacht Club of Sea Isle City for many years with my parents Bob and Romaine Parkinson, and finally jumped at the opportunity to become a member when our wonderful new club was built.   During my time as a member I have volunteered my services by participating in the annual Junior Olympics program and I am currently a member of the Bar and Restaurant Committee as well as the Entertainment Committee. I would appreciate the opportunity to represent the members of the Yacht Club of Sea Isle City, and promise to always give 100% of my time and effort to assure that our club is the place to be in SIC.

Proposed By-Law Changes

This year the Board of Directors along with By-Laws Committee is putting forward a number of By-Law Changes.  Below is a summary of the proposed changes;

Article III Membership
We have proposed new wording for membership classifications to identify our year round members as "Full Members", and we have eliminated "Single" as a membership classification since both Full & Associate members have single membership designations.

Article VII Meetings
Section 4 Method of Voting- We have proposed including online voting as a method for our Members to vote at Annual or Special Meetings, as well as eliminate the option for "Limited Proxy" voting.  The "General Proxy" option will remain.

Article VIII Trustees
Section 2- We have proposed that a former member of the board after serving two consecutive terms must wait 3 years instead of 1 year before running for another board term.

Section 5-  We have proposed reducing the number of meetings a Board of Trustee can miss from 4 to 3 in a term year.

Article X Duties of Officers
Section 5 Treasurer- We have proposed adding wording that the Treasurer position and the paid Comptroller position shall not be held by the same person.
